Here’s the thing. At Home Depot last week there were shrubs half price leftover from the holiday promotions. Oh, I think, $7.00 is near the price of a sandwich. I bought only one. Next trip, I bought two.
Then I read the tag.
I thought Emerald Green are miniature arborvitae trees. At 10 to 15 feet tall, that is a no. But they are so cute! 🥰 Not for long. They are a fast grower at 1 to 2 feet a year.
Tip: Enjoy the cuteness as you read the information tag.
For one year I will plant them in the large patio flower planters. Year two, I will find them a new home. The boxwood will go in a large planter on my deck to be trimmed into a round shape.
Until spring, I have three rather large plants to care for. 🤣

You brought nature inside. I need to do that this time of year!
ReplyDeleteMarie,
DeleteThe trees are a welcome sight indoors.

Those trees are great. I think I need those for the lake to cover up the neighbors fence!
ReplyDeleteJeanie,
DeleteCheck out your local Home Depot. Emerald green makes a good privacy fence. They won’t be out there for long. Good luck

Nice! With temperatures heading uncharacteristically into the 50's later this week, I know I'm going to be tempted to start dreaming of getting my garden going. It's a ruse, though... We have a couple of months of more frigid weather ahead.
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to gardening I'm wondering if the Resident Chef will stick to his vow not to plant as much on our balcony this year. After he spent the entire summer last year slugging cans of water out there, often three times (or more) a day in the heat, he made the executive decision to only plant one tomato plant and a few herbs. We'll see if he sticks to his plan.
