Reflection Monday January 2026

Playing in our minds is a tune
designed specially for the new year.
Made it to another year is playing in the heart. Looking forward to summer are in the lyrics. A French horn echoes the determination to handle all the hardships that may be in our way.

Be Confident in your own strength

    Marie,
Prayer helps against fear. The way the world is going, I expect it will take time to adjust if things get better.

  3. May this is a lovely photo of a winter sunrise. There is something special about early mornings when the day starts. I read Marie's comment and then yours. I know prayer certainly helps me with anxiety and fear. I do not think there are any human beings who do not feel the anxiousness that surrounds us. Take care friend and may 2026 be a wonderful year for you. Hugs!

A wonderful year to you, Debbie! Hugs
The upset news never stops. People are amazing how they are handling the fear we can’t avoid.

  4. I sure get the fear-there sometimes is just way too much every day to comprehend! I agree that prayer is the answer.

      Debra,
Along with prayer? going to church or listening to sermons online also helps.

  5. I love the words you've written here, May. I'm momentarily feeling emotionally knocked down (by an arrogant, or maybe fearful, doctor, of all people). I know the emotional wound will get less pronounced with time, but it feels truly unfortunate to have begun a new year this way. So you don't have to wonder, it's not a health issue, it's an unsatisfactory communication and service issue, with verbal insult added to injury. I'm not at all confident in my own strength, but I'm praying God will heal this too.

    1. Becki,
In the background of our difficult times, there is always a place to be good to ourselves. Thinking of what we could have done, beforehand, the what can I do phase, I find it is helpful to think of the source. Arrogant people have problems that are not ours.
      Be good to yourself

    1. Jeanie,
Thank you. This year will need all the strength we have.
I think those words I'll be writing on a tee shirt.

      Debbie,
Good words from a doctor are golden!
I laugh remembering how pleased my doctor was that I can stand from a sitting position without using any assist. Then I read that’s a test of a person’s health, mobility. So sometimes I do it at home. 😂

  9. I agree that fear seems to be almost all-encompasing these days. It's so hard to turn my mind away from what's going on in the world and it's such a difficult balance between listening to the news so I stay informed and feeling overwhelmed by it all.

      Maryanne,
I watch news programs on Youtube where actual people in the news are having their say, no second hand news reporting. It helps me feel less anxious abiut the turmoil going on.
