Why Oh Why is this what it is!?

Many of us have cut open a lotion container or a tube of toothpaste to get at that last smidgen of use.

I’m adding tartar sauce plastic jar.

A spoon doesn’t fit into the opening. Using a butter knife takes multiple scrapes to get out even the smallest amount. I cut the top off at the container shoulders. What a mess!

In bowl is all that was hard to
get to without cutting off the top

  1. Containers designed to sell more product because so much of it is inaccessible.

    1. Marie,
You might be right. Folks, I believe, prefer food in better designed jars.
I’m going to make my own tartar sauce instead.

  2. That's really a good idea. I can't count how many times that has happened.

    1. Jeanie,
It isn’t safe cutting a plastic jar open. I keep telling myself… cut away from the body and hands.

  3. We invested in a small spatula to scoop out the dregs of so many containers and it always amazes me just how much longer the product lasts. I'm currently going on two months of 'found' body lotion that was left in the bottom after the pump stopped working. I wonder how many people would simply toss it out.

    1. Maryanne,
A lot of lotion probably does get tossed out. A broken pump is common from what I experience. Saving one that works only goes down far before it breaks as well. Liquid soap, I add water to the last bit. That is also amazing how many soapy hand washes are left.

  4. It is amazing to me how many days-weeks I can get out of a cut-open bottle of lotion I can no longer pump anything out of. These things are outrageously priced, and I wonder hiw much gets thrown away.

    1. Becki,
I imagine a lot of lotion goes in the trash. I like Gold Bond in a wide mouth jar or tube. I only buy the pump style at the discount store.

  5. I've done that with paint, never toothpaste!
