Looking around more after discovering a drawing between two cabinets, I see fabric atop a cardboard box. It is two pieces that were cut for throw pillows.
Out comes my handy sewing tin, and away I go hand basting the edges. The incentive to get out a sewing machine builds.
Using bed pillows as the pillow forms, the closure is planned for tiny grommets that can be used to lace up the open edge. Easy on and off to wash.

Your post reminds me of my seamstress Mother. She sewed many of my clothes growing up, and so much more. I always admired the seamstress. Jess has an antique Singer sewing machine, what a treasure it is. So good to hear you are creative with sewing as well. : )
ReplyDeleteSheri,
DeleteIt’s wonderful Jess has the old Singer machine. They are fun to use.
I dream of having a non electric pedal machine.

That fabric is gorgeous! You're going to enjoy your pillows once they're done.
ReplyDeleteRe your dream of having a pedal sewing machine - I have one that I've never used. Our #2 son and daughter-in-love bought it for me and we had to haul it from BC to Ontario. #2 son remembers me telling about 'helping' my maternal grandmother sew by sitting on the floor pushing the pedal so he thought I'd like the machine. I do - I want to use it - but (and here's the rub) it needs a new belt and I'm terrified to try to install it. I have the belt. I don't have the confidence. Sigh.
Maryanne,
DeleteSlow and careful, putting the belt on will be a breeze. Happy Sewing!
