First thing this morning, I am happy to know today there are errands to do. The same errands that I mis-thought I had to do when I woke up yesterday, Sunday. (Saturday is a blank.)
Weekends are sieves the week falls through.
I had 3 errands to do today. After doing the first two, I forgot to take care of the third one. Once home, I am not keen on going back out. Age, not fit enough or both, I always feel exhausted after errands.
Doing errands is a part of life that I believe is more important as we age and/or our social circle becomes smaller. Out and about we see people, catch up, make new friends, see interesting things and in general, contribute to as we absorb the community atmosphere. Value in that, I feel, is immense whether we are readily aware of it or not.
- Plan errands for efficiency
- Make a list if need be
- Always check before going out the door that you have everything you need. There’s no sense returning a book to the library when you left it at home. 😎

When I make a list 9 times out of 10 I leave my list home ugg.
ReplyDeleteI call my husband to find out what was on the list.

Cathy,
DeleteSame here. 😂 Except no husband to call. I started trying to memorize my list.

I like doing errands. It keeps me from being isolated and things have to get done anyway; may as well enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteJeanie,
DeleteGood point. For many people, errands are their social life or part of it.
I see more people I know when out and about than I ever hear from.

I have to force my self to go out and get things done. There are so many tourists here that it makes doing anything difficult.
ReplyDeleteNicole,
DeleteTraffic is the deterrent here. For a small area, in summer traffic
at certain times of day can be awful.

I can't manage errands without a list. I hate errands and begrudge the time I have to spend away from my sewing room. Selfish, I know! One of the good things (and there are precious few) to come out of covid is the ability to order groceries online and then simply drive to the store to pick them up. There's nothing I hate more than grocery shopping. We do go to one store and I don't mind it so much because it has really wide aisles and is never crowded, but otherwise it's curbside pickups all the way.
ReplyDeleteMaryanne,
DeleteThe local grocery store has curbside pick-up service. It appears to be going well from the nearly full shelves I see so often. There is at least one, often two curb shoppers. I’m considering curbside.
