Nerves, Maps & Appointments

Oh Dear Oh Dear Oh Me!

After a loop around a closed Bed, Bath & Beyond big parking lot, I found the dentist office. I might have read the map wrong.

Nerves have plagued me with all appointments since I was a child.

My preppy sandals help comfort me. And, it is rather nice here, friendly staff and all. Blogging now also helps as a distraction to the discomfort anxiety causes.

Have a wonderful day !

🥴🥰😱🕊️😎🤣

I’m Home!

To fool anxiety in to thinking it should go away, I stopped at a different store to pick up lunch. That experience was pleasant as I parked near a beautiful pine tree with my windows down. In the heat of summer,  it felt like a shady picnic.

Another Big Idea: Will It Last?

Over the blogging years here, I’ve posted ideas I have about things I want to do. Many, (probably most), fizzled for various reasons into the never got done desert of the undone.

Here’s a really good one, that I see no reason at this time to not move forward with, the Vlog! Yesiree, I am writing plans to create a Vlog/video blog.

New Haven River 2024
Several years ago some readers might remember that I posted an audio blog. I was pro audio blogs. What happened is a mystery. I’d have to look at any notes I might have from back then.

Anyway, that’s what I’ll be working on in the next several weeks. Mid to late September will be a nice debut to bring the blog into the autumn. I will post the vlog on my YouTube channel. The text will be also posted here.

Update 11 July 2025: Notes are flowing well as I develop  a thesis statement to guide me.

A key point I notice along the be authentic side, is not to allow having fun blur the narrative. It is…don’t go all crazy and silly.

Corners, Milkweed & Memory Jogging

Wrapping a canvas around a stretcher corner is similar to making hospital corners on a bed.

Making the bed neat and tidy is easier. My canvas corners are slightly lumpy. If I leave the right amount of canvas to fold, then the corner will be smoother more often. In the photo, there is a good amount of canvas but the corner isn’t tidy.

In a frame, lumps won’t show. Untidy corners, I believe, don’t injure the artwork’s value.

A corner over-cut on a watercolor or drawing mat does, I feel, lessen the value of the artwork. I will not accept a framed piece that has mat corner over-cuts because it is sloppy mat cutting. I believe All matted artwork for sale should have mats with no over-cut corners.

Milkweed

Milkweed flowers have a sweet and strong scent. I am glad to say that despite losing 80%+/- of my sense of taste and smell after getting the 2022 covid vaccine, I can smell the milkweed flowers! It is quite a thrill. There are taste and smell levels I still have in the sweet and salty levels.

Memory Jogging

The spicy training to help bring back my senses of taste and smell has not worked for me.

As I eat, however, I will use memory by telling myself that I know the taste from in the past. I am pleased to report that jog my brain method does help. Melding memory to the food is proving to improve my enjoyment of food. I don’t care if the taste is only my imagination.
