My Summer Story 2025

This morning I realize it is about the time to post part of my summer story 2025.

“So kid,” I ask myself, “Is the story ready?”

No, the story is not ready. Writing session progress has been slow. The base is there. The characters are developing. The action is sort of no wind in the sails.

However, so as not to miss that not so glorious silence of everyone leaving town (when I post my stories), a section of my summer story 2025 will be posted in a few days.

A few sentences…

Much groaning is heard as the group sprinkles out of their vehicles onto the stony driveway. Darryl moans that gravity is pulling down his lunch with gusto.
“I ate too fast.” Darryl’ says as his mustache squishes in like a push broom against a closed door.

Like It Or Not

New Haven River 2024

The outdoors on a sunny day soothes the soul. After yesterday’s dental appointment stress, today feels much lighter. Thus, I will visit nature even if I only sit outside my door.

For a limited time that is because it is forecast to be in the upper eighty degrees Fahrenheit (30°C).

The like it or not part …

Getting up in the morning has been very difficult for over a month. I have sometimes not been up until mid afternoon. That is disturbing to me. Thus, I decided that when I wake in the morning, I will get up and stretch no matter what.

Today on day one, I woke just before 4 AM! I got up, puttered, made coffee and did a very lazy stretch session.

Then I went back to sleep just after 6 AM.

Half success is still success.

Tomorrow, I will get dressed for the day and work on a painting or my summer story. No breaks until 10 AM.

When our routine changes, I feel, we need to take action, not brush it off as aging, what we ate or just a bout of laziness.

What is getting me down may not be one thing. It can be a group of things taking a larger form like rain drops on a window. Eventually, the destination reveals itself in whatever, as the saying goes, is at the heart of the matter.

A few hours after my stretching, my elbows feel tender. 🤣
