Reflection Monday June 2018

Getting to know the You of you
Does your impression of yourself match the image of yourself?
Clean out and organize a desk, a closet, a fridge, a vehicle
What about you?
Try this...
Under dim light, no glasses, from a photograph
Sketch your face in profile
Add paint to the sketch squinting as you go
Later, turn on the lights.
Is that you?
Dim light portrait, That's Not Me

That isn't me
in the acrylic painting (left) that I did of myself by the light of the television with no glasses on.

Where do you find you, the person your brain voice thinks you are? If you do a dim light self portrait, will it be you when you turn on the lights?

  1. Maywyn - great idea to try sketching yours truly - I have done this once myself. Take care and have a super week. Hugs!

    1. Hi Debbie,
It can be a surprise when the lights are turned on. I feel inspired to paint a self portrait that does look like me.
      Happy Week!

  3. Hi William,
You are such a good photographer, I wouldn't be surprised, with practice, you'd be a good artist as well.

  4. Nice project! I would love to see the faces of the artists and then the portraits.

    1. Hi Tabor,
I have one charcoal self portrait where the exercise requires the artist to sketch by looking down into a mirror. The results are sort of cool and frightening at the same time. lol

  5. It would not look like me for sure. It would probably not even look like a human being. I am so bad at sketching and drawing.

    1. Hi Loree,
Try the exercise anyway for some fun.
Scale goes out the window for each feature. I recognize them on their own, but together, its a shock how they don't fit.
