Late Foliage Season

The longer days draw a moody melancholy atmosphere out of the woods, past the door and into a hot cup of spiced tea. We drink to seasonal changes with relief...until we turn on the news.

How do we get by the issues we have no control over. Frustration is an abyss. Apathy is spillage from souls that know better. Empathy tears at the heart.

Simple joys in life are all around us.

At a traffic light, 3 similar SUVs are in line, light blue, medium blue, dark blue. What are the chances of seeing that again.

A mouse chewed a hole in a bag of bird seed. What are the chances the hole is at the corner that says, "Cut Here?" I kid you not. I took a picture.

There are joyful things in the World to appreciate. Be open, mindful, and embrace gratefulness.

  1. good post-for me I no longer waste my time or emotions on watching the "fake" news most of them are no longer news with facts-but rather opinions/lies from either side-so I no longer watch any of it
enjoying our surroundings is good for the soul and our mental health-and for news I just search all over the net and compare stories to decifer what's the truth-or is any of it truth?? haha

  2. Noticing the small things of life close to us is a good antidote to the horrors of the global world around us. What a clever mouse!

  3. Lorrie,
Clever indeed, seed spilled on the floor. No doubt he or his pal scored a snack. I bought the bag anyway.

    Thank you William
There are days I prefer the rain not be interrupted by sunshine. There's a refreshing vibe about rainy days.

    Kathy,
Reading the hog report use to tell me about the economy before it was even in the news. Truth is out there.

  6. You are a woman after my own soul, which may sound a bit corny, but I really like the "way" you see even the smallest things around, much like myself. Thank you for taking the time to remind us all that the "little" things also matter. There is much joy and wonder in the world to appreciate every day! What a clever mouse too. And about those cars, whenever we have been on an extended trip, it has always been amazing to find many cars of the SAME color all in a row!

  8. A mouse who reads - who knew?! Had my first cup of cafe mocha (coffee with chocolate powder added) today so I guess I must have been feeling cool.

  9. I think the gold trees are the best -- even when the sun doesn't hit them, they're beautiful! I have to dump my birdseed bags into tight containers -- I've had the same thing happen, though not by nearly so smart a critter!

  10. Maryanne,
Mocha in the morning before sunrise is magical. Most amazing mouse for sure. I am saving that bag. lol

    Jeanie,
The store has a cat. He was sleeping in the window. When I told him to get with it, he didn't even wake up.

  11. Meant to say that we learned the very hard way that keeping birdseed in an airtight hard plastic container is far better than leaving it in the bag. That fact was discovered when I opened the storage room door one day to a face full of moths - literally thousands of them!! We were under siege for days and had to throw out every bit of food that wasn't sealed in either glass or heavy plastic. Expensive lesson!

  12. Moths!
I would be screaming on and off just thinking about moths in my face. 😳
I will put the seed in a closed container.
