Not In Progress
The Middlebury River in October M. Flannery 2022 31" x 24" acrylic on stretched canvas |
This painting is finished and signed.
In a fews days or longer, I might change the right bank, add fallen branches, weeds, and/or more sand. It is 5 AM EDT. I am not keen on that, but daylight will tell.

Daylight

The right bank needs no additional paint. It is funny how it is place of deepest shadows that can only be seen well in the brighter light. The distant trees, though, could use some trunks.
Gorgeous! Love it! How one can start with a blank canvas and create such beauty always amazes me.
ReplyDeleteTo my eye, the painting is lovely, but to an artist such as yourself, there are possible more additions or tweaks to be made. As presented, it gave me an image of autumn by the river much like the scenes by the Nashua River here in NH.
ReplyDeleteMaywyn...absolutely gorgeous. I love it. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteOh, I think it is perfect! The trees really do look real in all of their Autumn beauty!
ReplyDeleteThank you all y'all 🙂
ReplyDeleteMarie,
I am sure from your lovely photos, you could take up painting and do very well. Your blog banner, to me, is a work of art.
Beatrice,
Along the Everett highway, I think it is the Nashua River, going north on my right, there are old brick factory buildings. On the left is an old neighborhood like I grew up in. The scene has been in my to paint memory for decades. Thank you fir the reminder.
Hugs, Debbie
Ohio is in my art heart always.

Your photos of the rocket launch make my heart sing!
What a joy it must be to paint the Fall season in all its colorful glory! For me it is a joy to sew this beautiful season. Your painting looks wonderful. I am amazed how the painting changes appearance with the time of day.
ReplyDeleteThat first painting is beautiful. I love everything about it. You did an excellent job on it.

*so glad you found your keys when saying the Saint Anthony prayer. Thank you for telling me. He is one of the first Saints that I got to know. And I've loved him ever since. : )
Thank you, Annie
ReplyDeleteYour quilts are beautiful.
It is strange how light in a painting parallels light in the room.
Thank you, Sheri
The process was interesting.
Still, I am relieved it is finished.
I love the texture of the leaves and you nailed the light (and the water -- so hard!) It's hard to say they are done sometimes, isn't it? Walking away and different light are always good strategies! I love it as is. But it won't be right till it's right for you!
ReplyDeleteI love the autumnal warmth you portray by oh those foreground reflections are something else! The light is gorgeous. I have had a long look with it on a bigger screen and it really is lovely. Best wishes.
ReplyDeleteJeanie,
ReplyDeleteThank you.
The challenge was worth it. I learned, and, have a better sense of my painting process.
Lisa,
ReplyDeleteThank you.
The light in your paintings are always beautiful.
Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThank you, William!
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful, Maywyn. I especially like the light in the water on the left. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lorrie
ReplyDeleteOn to the next...
Well done! Now I wonder what you will do next. Surely there's another painting clambouring for your attention...if not several. I know once I finish a landscape I'm never at a loss for ideas for a new one with the only issue being just which one.
