Commentary: This Blog's Status

The Pumpkin Stays

A recent death in the family has me unbalanced with a need to adjust. Disinfranchised grief is a new and unique experience.

Pondering what next with this blog went straight to closing down. Instead, a new title with the same URL address, Salty Pumpkin Studio. Grieving is probably not the right frame of mind to make changes. The decision, however, feels right.

I made up this blog's name by extracting the elements I used to create Salty Pumpkin Studio___ocean, land, nature, art.

Thus, Pumpkin, Pines & Canvas is created.
~ Pumpkin fan since childhood.
~ In 1995, an acute anxiety episode sent me to the ER. The doctor asks what is my favorite calm place image. He tells me to focus on that place. I told him the pine trees where I hiked years ago is my calming place image.
~ Canvas represents art. The Atlantic Ocean element silently associates with canvas as in sails.

Posting will resume as a once a week montague with a main focus on art and nature.

UPDATE...No new name. I changed it back to Salty Pumpkin Studio!

Unsettling in many ways, grief is a Nor'easter of emotion that requires careful attention.

The grief appears to be lighter as the days go by. Now I'm feeling regret about changing the blog name.

  5. Nothing is set in stone- you can change your blog name again. Grief is a very hard thing to deal with. I am still not sure my husband and I have passed through it since the death of his sister in July. A month later I lost a friend to cancer. On top of these deaths-we both have been going through a series of health things....So where was the time to grieve properly? Instead I think I just feel kind of lost. Unable to do artwork, and unable to feel it would have any meaning anyway. No-all is not that bad-but I have those moments. I know it will get better. Better days are ahead. Thanks for being a friend.

Changing back to Salty is on my mind. I have to wait until Blogger lets it rest.
I think you are right about properly grieving. The more days go by, the more clear things are. I should have waited.

    Prayers for you both continues

  12. I'm so very sorry about the recent death in your family. Young or old, near or far, it doesn't really matter -- it is a loss of family continuity. I love your new name -- it has meaning and I know you'd been flirting with change for some time. I think you found a good match!

The new name is a good match.
The Salty name has become too familiar to stay gone. :)

I was editing the blog, unsure of what direction to take. Comments were on and off for a while. Sorry for that.
