A Floor Grate, TV & Tiny Sprouts

Floor Grate/Register

The heavy iron floor grate is not an object to put in a drawer. Bought at a yard sale over 20 years ago, I've kept it on the floor under a chair. I grew up in places with floor grates aka registers, mostly the louver adjustable style.

This last week of March arrives on time when you think about it. Spring cleaning will be finished here by April first.

Are you tethered to your TV?

Watching streaming television on my computer is fantastic! I chose how and mainly when I watch programs. I now have a grasp on how well I manage my time. Badly is the before. Good is the After. At first, I felt lonely. Now I feel happily liberated.

Try streaming shows for a few days to see how you feel about your television relationship.

Rose Campion Sprouts 2023

The tiny seedlings are amazing! The rose campion seeds are the tiniest I've seen. Best sown in fall, they are an attractive plant that blooms every 2 years. The other tray is lavender balsam. Thus far, there are no balsam sprouts.

  1. The grate is a lot nicer than those I remember from my grandfather’s house.

  2. Ooooh - I can 'see' that grate making wonderful rubbings that could be turned into art pieces!! Perhaps a background that could be painted over??
As for the tv, I could probably do without it entirely. There are a few shows that I like to watch (and I like to listen to the Blue Jays baseball games) but there's nothing that everything else has to stop while I watch it.

  3. Marie,
It is a fancy grate. The ones I remember were plain as well.

  4. Maryanne,
Good ideas. May a quilting stitch pattern.
TV, I'm considering joining Acorn. I like the British mysteries. Now that you mention it, I can't think of a show I must see.
I know there are series I might not watch that each season leave folks with another same old cliff hanger. Scarlet and the Duke on PBS is one of those shows, a why bother situation. Sad because the acting is good.

  6. Hena,
The balsam show up in the yard each year. I guess they take long time to germinate indoors.

  7. What a beautiful old grate. I have watched way too much TV in the last 10 months - what with recovering from two surgeries, and now my knee.

  8. William,
It is a nice design. I was lucky to buy it.

  9. Becki,
After 2 surgeries, lots of TV is all right.

  10. I don't usually stream on my computer since I have a roku plugged into the TV and can stream a lot of things from there -- Acorn, Britbox, Kanopy, youtube, and lots of other things. That said, I'm much more aware of how I do watch TV. Which isn't to say it isn't on. With my tinnitus, I like having the background noise, even if it's just news all day that I'm not watching, to keep me from hearing the noises in m head.

    I like your grate!

  11. Jeanie,
Your lemon party blog post has started my day with sunshine!
The lemon cream puffs are on my list, and in my heart. lol

Roku! Thank you. I hadn't thought of that. Acorn is definitely a yes.
Tinnitus, I didn't think that having the TV or radio on is more comfortable, I'm so use to the tinnitus sound. Good tip
