Comment Glitch

FYI

A comment recently appears in my spam folder from 2021 that has been returned to draft, as in being unpublished for over a year.

I speculted in a recent post about old comments left as a result of an image search on an old post. I don't believe that is the source of the problem.

An old image search clicked on to see the post will bring you to a page where there is no post to comment on...page no longer exists thing. The 2021 has no post for anyone to leave a recent comment.

I believe the glitch is with Blogger working on something or someone fiddling around with Blogger. I leave the weird comment as is, no approve or clicking on.

P.S.

22 March: In Gmail, Emails are changing folders they've been filed to since categories began.

P.P.S.

23 March: I shouldn't have brought it up. Weird messages in my Blogger spam folder have increased.

Comments

  1. Blogger has started the disappearing comment thing. I posted on someone's blog, it published because they don't use comment moderation, I go back next day to see comments after mine, and mine's gone. Oh. There's another blog on which the comment is deleted before I even finish writing it. After several tries, it stays.

Someone's under the hood "improving" things again.

  2. Liz,
Someone under the hood, I think you are spot on.
Blogger glitches when they change something isn't unusual.

  4. I have been having lots of comments come through spam. I'm just glad that they catch those before, so I can just delete them. A handful of them are not spam, and I have to go back and publish them. I hope your issue resolves.

    Happy first day of Spring!

  9. William,
The disappearing comment, I've also experienced. Good to know it's not just me.

  10. Yes, I agree, Marie.
It is a good thing Blogger is easier to use than other blog hosts. I've tried for years to move to Wordpress. Each time has been too much hassle customizing.

  11. I am now wondering if comments on my blog are disappearing into the mysterious void. I've had comment moderation on for a long time and have to approve comments before they get published. Maybe having that extra step helps but who knows. Could simply be Blog-grrrrr suffering from indigestion again.

  12. Maryanne,
Comment moderation is the way to go. Disappearing comments is new to me as is comments left on unpublished posts.

  13. I hadn't thought of that but I bet you are right -- Blogger's doing "something." (And this is why I moderate...)

  14. Jeanie,
In the old days, when companies had a department all about programming, the way code goes, one change here can mean a disaster someplace else. It surprises me that still happens.

  15. A further note on the comment thing - re comments left on unpublished posts - I've noticed that sometimes I will see a post from you appear in my feed and when I go to the blog to leave a comment it's no longer there. I assume you thought better of leaving it published and perhaps it showed up just long enough for someone to leave a comment before you removed it. Just a thought!

  16. Maryanne,
    My apologies.
A bad habit, changing my mind is being worked on. Scheduling posts helps because it gives me the chance to edit before publishing.

  17. So frustrating for you. I haven't noticed any glitches lately on my blog. I'm afraid to change anything out of fear that that will start a cascade of problems.

  18. Becki,
Changing things is best with writing down notes, and saving template first.
