Reflection Monday May 2023

Sun & Shadow

A blog rule I try to follow is to minimize the amount of controversial subjects such as politics, social justice, religious issues, product complaints, that I post about.

My style is Sun vs Shadow blogging.

The original (very controversial) post is  replaced by this 3rd, and last version for Reflection Monday, May 2023.
Why so indecisive?
It is like this. A subject clicks or it doesn't. For this feature, I brainstorm ideas for a week or more. This month is more difficult than usual.
My mind is hugging the shadows, being morose and unwilling to release ideas that click sunshine.

Could it be that just telling folks what is going on is the simple subject? I think so.

  1. Sometimes we need to hug the shadows. Hopefully it passes or lightens soon. But sometimes things are so dark we have to listen to it, acknowledge it, and then do our best to let it go.

  2. I don't mind reading occasional controversial posts. Sometimes they are interesting! I might state my opinion, but it sometimes depends on how others are commenting. Someone I follow on FB has a couple people who constantly tell her where they think she is wrong in her thinking. I guess they are friends so she tolerates it. Maybe she just appreciates hearing opposite views. It's her page to do what she wants, but I've seen them go at her too many times so I usually avoid that.
A good idea to think on sun vs. shadow topics I guess. I like the photo!

  3. Jeanie,
Life in shadow feels like being in the lunch room after everyone has left, and I found a brownie at the bottom of my lunch bag. 😎

  4. Mary,
I feel sorry for your fb friend, and you. Nobody should put up with negativity on a regular basis. It is very uncomfortable to see that happen. Internet trolls are harmful people.

I have thoughts about posting my original subject under a different title.

  5. I try to avoid controversy too but sometimes it boils over.

  6. Marie,
    Understandable for sure.

The original subject is close to my heart. I believe many will take my words the wrong way and/or disagree no matter what the facts are.

I am leaning more and more to posting it under a different title.

  7. I try to have positive posts, just because the world can sometimes be harsh, but there are times when life is not pretty, so I may post about those happenings at times. But it's your blog, so you can choose to post what you want. And you are a thoughtful person, so I know you will do well.

    Happy May, dear friend!

  9. On an entirely different topic, I find I keep reading you as Safety Pumpkin! I'd just got past reading it as Sally Pumpkin, too. I'll get it right one day.

  10. I know what you mean about controversial subjects. I am always looking for sunshine but I certainly sympathize with being in the shadows. Been there as well. Hugs!

  11. I too tend to stay away from controversial topics thought sometimes things get a bit too much and I feel like I have no choice but to bring them up.

  12. I always try to steer clear of politics and religion although an occasional rant against The Donald sneaks in and sometimes I do reference the fact that I'm a Christian. I do try to keep those to a minimum though. Sometimes I just can't help going on a rant but I do try to make them few and far between and I try to put a humourous twist onto them.

  13. Is this whole post a metaphor?

  14. Thank you, Sheri
    A Happy May to You!

Being thoughtful is key to worry free blogging.
I lean away from posting the original under a new title.

  15. William,

Just about anyone in the world can tell their true story and not be vilified for it except for Prince Harry and Meghan.

Fairness stands on its own. It doesn't mean the person or people have to be are liked.

  16. Liz,
    That's funny.
Reading words we expect over what we see makes life interesting. There are people that fit so well with a name, I find it difficult to use their real name.

  17. Debbie,
Your blog is cheery place to visit. There's smiles there.

  18. Hena,
To post or not to post can be a difficult question to answer. The most difficult subjects are those close to the heart.

I ask myself if my small voice will make a difference.
I know in a small way it will.
Then I ponder if the possible negative reactions are worth it. Nowadays, that answer would be no far more often than yes.

  19. Maryanne,
Few and far between sounds refreshing.
Applying that to the original here is helpful. More thought continues.

  20. Becki,
In a way that's not easy to hold onto the point, being a metaphor is possible, but not reaching me.

  21. As you may have noticed my blog posts, are devoid of just about ALL controversial topics, like religion, politics, current events and complaints about products, rarely (but sometimes). It's not because I don't recognize that these exist, but most people have their own opinions and rightfully so.

Some bloggers thrive on certain topics as is their choice. It is our choice as well whether to read, commont or avoid.

  22. Beatrice,
There are some robust bloggers that can voice their opinions in stronger terms than others.
My blog reading is limited to a majority of thoughtful people like yourself.

Your posts are always good to read.
