After the Thunderstorms

The sky this evening had a golden glow*. There was more blue and silver lining some of the formations, mostly the fractus pieces. A large thunderstorm system passed through this lower elevation of Vermont. The thunder rumbled, but wasn't as severe as I expected in my local area.

In the Montpelier area and the mid section of Vermont had a severely devastating flooding this week.

  1. I've been concerned about you and the flooding. Seems that you weren't affected. Good.

  2. Liz,
It is heart breaking how badly some places in Vermont are flooded with more rain on the way.

  4. Marie,
No flood zone here. The creek boat launch parking lot was flooded. Only a few roads were closed during the rain early week.

The amount of rain we've had in Vermont is unreal. And more is in the forecast. I m glad we don't have flooding where I live.

  7. I'm glad to read that you have escaped the flooding. It's been terrible in places, from what the news says.

  8. So glad to hear that you're okay. Mother Nature seems to be pitching more and more hissy fits lately. I used to love thunderstorms but not since so many of them cause so much devastation these days.

  9. Maryanne,
Thunderstorms are wearing thin on my favorite list as well.
Rumbles by, thankfully, without much drama where I am, so far. I'm tired of the rain.

  10. Lorrie,
There are places in Addison County that are under alert for flooding along Otter Creek because more rain is on the way.
WPTZ had a spot from Middlebury near the creek falls. The rushing water is scary.

There's quite a clean up in the flooded towns. Prayers the rain forecast isn't as heavy as expected.

  16. This is a lovely and mysterious picture of the sky. It's interesting to see what the clouds really looked like at the time in the second photo. I hope there is no damage done from the flooding in that particular area of Vermont. Have a peaceful weekend, and good week ahead.

  17. Sheri,
South of here in Ripton, Vermont and nrar tge rivers and creeks, flooding is a problem. There are reports of homes being destroyed. In my area we are higher ground from the large local creek.

In Instagram I saw a video of rushing waters along The Long Trail where the narrator says there is no water feature on the map. Heavy rain in the mountains is scary.
