A New Pumpkin, Monday & Biscuits
The new profile pumpkin is larger with a tilt in a richer orange hue. The previous pumpkin is centered more. The background is darkest teal. It took a few changes to soften the background color. It still shows as black.
I learned that when you from the start, type your text in the HTML view, the position of the text will be tricky to position. Start typing the post in the Compose view for easier text placement.
My first Monday with the end of a long weekend vibe, starts out well. I got up and dressed without whining about it. As the first meal of the day, brunch is prefered because it combines two meal times, and gives me a chance to unfold. Funny, since a kid, getting up in the morning has felt to me like unfolding a popup greeting card. Anyway, no errands are planned in honor of the faux holiday Monday spirit.
Achievement. What will I do when my week really begins? Right away I know I will be painting, (probably today). Puttering, laundry, writing, and a small goal. Biscuits. I've wanted to learn how to make good biscuits for years. It is such a simple recipe. Yet, each try has been blah. I'll give it another go, and post how it goes on Friday.
What are Your goals this week? Small or large.
Biscuits...a Southern favorite of which I am an expert! hahahaha! Mix your ingredients gently. Do not over mix. Dump dough onto a floured surface, gently spread it out and cut biscuits. Don't over work your dough. Dot the top of each biscuit with butter, don't over cook. Easy peasy...pass the biscuits! Save me one! lol Hugs!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Diane
ReplyDeleteI will handle the dough gently. This biscuit making will be fun.
I've always loved your profile pumpkin picture, but this one is nice too. Orange pumpkins just make me smile.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely October week.
~Sheri
Happy October Week to you, Sheri
ReplyDeleteIt is starting out on a nice fake holiday vibe here. lol
Another biscuit tip from the Resident Chef is to make sure your butter is cold. He makes really good ones so I guess he knows what works. I, on the other hand, couldn't make a biscuit to save my soul. Can't make pie crust either.
ReplyDeleteGood Luck with baking biscuits ~ My deceased husband was the cook so I got spoiled and no longer like to cook ~ It sounds like you like to challenge your self ~ eh?
ReplyDeleteMy goals are more physical ~ daily meditation, yoga and walking just about every day with my doggie ~
Wishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,

Maryanne,
ReplyDeleteI knew a woman who made her pie crust in the pan. It was one of the best I've ever tasted. My crust runs from the pan. lol
Carol,
ReplyDeleteWhen we are cooking for one, the importance fades. We have to eat well, though, for our health.
Simple goal, hard to accomplish since it requires good weather. It’s rained a week here again. I want some more walks and picnics before the snow flies.
ReplyDeleteMarie,
ReplyDeleteThe last walk you posted about is marvelous!
I read that Mt Washington had snow. That high up, it can stay there.
My goals for this week are mostly indoor ones to do with cooking, writing, and housekeeping, but I also want to walk at least 10,000 steps each day. Today I've accomplished 14,000, but no steps can be carried over. :)
ReplyDeleteLorrie,
ReplyDeleteThose are good goals.
It doesn't seem fair the steps don't carry over.
I like the new pumpkin. Subtle but good change. This week's goals? Well, since it's Thursday.... make new felties for the art sale. Finishing packaging for the art sale. Continue cutting back the garden if it ever stops raining. Clean the garage if the temp doesn't drop too fast. (At least start to clean the garage.) Empty the dshwasher. Fill the dishwasher. Lose five pounds before tomorrow's doc appointment.
ReplyDeleteJeanie,
ReplyDeleteI wish you all the luck in the world. Try no salt and cucumbers, and the light fabrics.
It'll be a long week for me.
