Open Water

Dead Creek East Branch
Cold & Windy

There is still open water on the lake
and at Dead Creek in Addison, Vermont.
Lunch outdoors was not a good idea.
It was too cold and windy.

  1. Our major river and lake here has no ice either. I look forward to the ducks coming in and with them the bald eagles. Seems like not this year. Janice

  2. Janice,
Birds were scarce yesterday in both places where I stopped, along Lake Champlain and the creek.
There were few people out as well.

  4. Debbie,
It was a biting damp cold that blew right threw your soul. I stayed in the car. For that reason, and there weren't enough people out at either place to feel safe walking around.

  5. I always overestimate my ability to picnic in winter -- colder than I expect.

  6. Liz,
The forecast and the sunshine that morning lulled me into an expectation a cold, but sunny day with dog walkers all about. I saw one.

Wow, that is quite a storm system covering your area. Stay safe.

  10. Becki,
The wind was pretty brisk on the water there. The ground was too pack snow icy to get much closer.

  11. The river outside our apartment building hasn't frozen over all winter and at this point it might not.

  12. Maryanne,
You might be right because it feels like spring is pushing at winter's door.
