Ye Olde Kitchen Wall
Recently at a thrift shop I saw an item that brought me back to the 1960s, a brass colored pressed decorative metal plate depicting an assortment of fruits. The style plate is also made with other designs. I almost bought it. I managed a no by remembering how I parted with my copper colored salad molds years ago.
When I saw the coffee cup clock online, my eyes glazed over. It stayed in the box for a few months before I hung it up. I felt very guilty being so frivolous to buy the fun clock.
Today, I realize how much happiness it brings me. Surrounded by kitchen items I use, except for the vintage tin bread pan and cabbage shredder, a good sense of having a room decorated to my liking is important to me. The kitchen more than other rooms is the place where decor gives off home vibes, safety vibes, goodies in the fridge vibes.
Do you have a favorite kitchen wall? Any wall?
No favourite kitchen wall in our apartment because it's all filled with either a doorway (we have two in our tiny little kitchen...why?!) or cabinets. Does the wall that has the cabinet with my coffee mugs inside count?
ReplyDeleteMaryanne,
DeleteMug decor definitely counts!
Small kitchens are the best, less to clean and easier to find things.
I have a small slant back cupboard my husband made years ago I change up for the holidays. That is such a sweet clock.

Cathy,
DeleteThat is so sweet, a seasonal place to change up.
I have a wall upstairs with photos of my home province of Newfoundland. It makes me feel at home in this province.
ReplyDeleteMarie,
Deleteimages of home are spiritually uplifting.
Third generation Newfoundlander here, one day I hope to visit there.
We keep a shelf in the kitchen for favourite nick-nacks.

Jan,
DeleteA nick-knack shelf brings back a lot of good memories.
No fave kitchen walls, exactly, but I love yours. I am surrounded by things I love, so that's what matters!
ReplyDeleteJeanie,
DeleteYour decor is gorgeous!
Oh, your coffee clock is delightful. I'm glad you bought that for yourself. Sometimes we need to treat ourselves in a big way. The bread pan is neat too. I remember the old cheese shredders that stand up on the counter. I still like using them. I haven't hung many pictures up in this house, so I don't have a favorite wall, but I guess I'm thankful for all of them that shelter me from the harsh weather outside.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely week, my friend.

Sheri,
DeleteI hope one day you have a favorite wall.
As a child, I was often sick, childhood depression i think.
I use to stare at walls, bare, painted, wallpaper, and curtains.
