Afterall
An August Sky Over Vermont |
Multiple projects are a certain indication one's mind has been active. There is a difference, however, between have (the project) and doing (the project). Creative ideas grouped into one interest like art, writing or poetry can become overwhelming if they are left to build up as new ideas emerge.
Belief is the fuel that keeps the oldest project going.
Inspiration is the fuel that a new idea rides on.
When both run out, then one can end up where I am today.
Deliberately distracted by other things like reading or doing laundry. Any mundane task is good enough for me to be busy not looking at what I want to do.
I began a novel a few years ago, Cornsilk Moon. I posted about here on this blog. Yet, since last winter it (loose-leaf notebook) has followed me around my living room because I'm always feeling that today is the day I begin editing to write the last draft. Writing is a scary process when you get close to the ending. I'm not good with endings.
This week, starting today, I'll be telling myself not to be scared. Afterall, Halloween is 78 days away.
That's impressive that you wrote novel. I hope you finish editing it and eventually publishing. That's such a pretty picture. You take the best cloud photos, ya know? Looks like the clouds are chasing you. : )

Sheri,
ReplyDeleteThere is a big sky in that area, a favorite place for photos.
Hope you finish the ending...and maybe then there could be a sequel. Janice
ReplyDeleteJanice,
DeleteThe group of friends I've created are in other stories as well.
A sequel is a good idea!
Writing a novel is quite a challenge. I have done 1/4 of one. Good luck with it!
ReplyDeleteMarie,
DeleteOutlines and character sketches are a big help. I'm constantly worrying about forgetting who is who and who is doing what.
Happy Writing! I hope you finish your novel.
Unfinished projects re very familiar to me as well, so you are definitely not alone. I've never attempted to write a novel so much credit to you and hope you are able to get your focus back. Mundane tasks include laundry and house keeping for me, but never reading 😉
ReplyDeleteMe Salty again. Edge makes me anonymous
DeleteBeatrice,
The smaller the task, the better the concentration to relax. imho.
I stay so buy that I neglect fun projects. I just keep working! lol Hope you can spend time with your book....sounds wonderful!

DeleteYour hikes into that beautiful Florida scenery is a very good busy!
I always have several different projects on the go and what gets worked on depends on either the time of day or where I'm at. Stitching mostly takes place during the daylight hours and then I switch to either knit, crochet or reading in the evenings when the light isn't as good.
ReplyDeleteMaryanne,
ReplyDeleteThat is a good idea, to use the light on certain projects.
It the winter, it is fantastic to sit by a window to read in daylight.
