Day 243 of Week 35 August 2024
Autumn is in the Air

Frosty Morning |
The foliage season is only a few weeks where it is near and at peak. Planning where and when to take photographs is the key to capturing the best of the leaf peeping season.
This year I have a 7 x 5-inch spiral notebook to write down the subjects I want to photograph as well as where, and when (aka the time of day). My theme of Embrace Nature helps me focus on those parts of the natural world I don't want to miss.
Traveling is an issue because I do not want to go far. Thankfully, living in a rural area gives me access to a large view of the fall personality.
Packing up a backpack for a walk down the street isn't the same as for a drive across the state. Thus, the lighter the load, the more attractive it is to me. Walking brings a lot of the aromas of autumn to the senses.
The only destination event I am keen on is to have breakfast at a quaint diner. That is the meal I like most to have out and about. Why this year a diner, I have no idea. I have no idea even where that diner will be.
Are you planning a fall excursion? Places to photograph?
Last fall we took a drive 'up north' to see the fall colours but were somewhat disappointed when we realized that the colours in our own area were far better. Could have been the year. This year I doubt we'll be making that trip, primarily because I'm the only driver now and with DH's sciatic issues it's not comfortable for him to spend extended time in the car.
ReplyDeleteMaryanne,
DeleteCloser to home can have some spectacular foliage.
I checked the foliage forecast for Vermont this year. It appears to be on track for the normal end of September to mid October.
We always visit certain areas during particular seasons. I am beginning to look forward to fall,
ReplyDeleteMarie,
DeleteLooking forward to fall is finally sinking in here as well.
I keep putting off counting my comfy socks though.
I love a good diner and breakfast there is always the best -- hearty and delicious. I look forward to your autumn images -- both photographed and painted. If they are anything like those in this post, they will dazzle. I'm hoping when we're in England we will see some fall color -- we will miss it at home this year.
ReplyDeleteJeanie,
DeleteHappy Travels! The colors in the UK can be as beautiful as here in America.
Wow! already 'Autumn Leaves' showing ~ great photos ~ thanks ~

Carol,
DeleteThere are a very few trees that start to turn early. I've seen only one around here so far.
Breakfast at a Diner is always delightful. I've always loved Diners - the atmosphere, the assorted pies, the chili and cornbread, and the friendly waitresses. Your Fall photos are so pretty, and I'm looking forward to seeing more of Vermont's Fall this season. That country road is an awesome photo. Have a nice blog break, and I'll be here when you return. : )

Sheri,
DeleteIt is tough to do, but I am focused on the fall photo taking this year.
We are lucky to have a great place to walk and experience fall colors close to the mill apts, Mine Falls Park has some nice walking trails and the foliage can be quite spectacular. We will be spend 9 days in Tuscany in early October and that is our major travel this year.
ReplyDeleteeatrice,
DeleteOooee! A trip to Tuscany!
Happy & Safe Travels
Y’all will see some foliage there as well.
Such beautiful colour in your pictures here.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Jan,
DeleteIf there is only one tree with one colorful leaf, I am determined to find it this year.
It is weird that I approved a comment, but it does not show up here.
