Day 257 of Week 37 September 2024
Friday the 13th

Blueberry Ice Milk

  • Add sugar to taste or not
  • Half a glass of frozen blueberries
  • Cover with milk
  • Let stand 5 minutes or so
  • Stir
  • Milk will freeze around the blueberries
  • Enjoy!
I've been a big fan of frozen blueberries since the 1970s. As a child, we picked wild blueberries every summer.

🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁

What's be going on here? Well, I'm enjoying my blog break. The weather has been mostly nice. I've been painting all week. (Good progress there.)
The foliage is showing a blush of autumn. I bought a pumpkin decorated mug at TJ Maxx. I've discovered I can watch YouTube videos on my smart television. Sparrows and other birds have begun searching the deck for seed when the temperatures drop. I had my flu and new covid shots today. (Flu shot arm is always sore.) I switched back to decaf coffee. I now sleep better. I scored two good buys at the thrift store for saucepans with lids.
Overall, slow paced days without drama has been nice.

Have a Fun Weekend!

Create an autumn movie list
Shop tweed blazers online
Bake a walnut strudel
Take a walk with friends
Visit your local animal shelter
Read about the science of leaves
Draw a lamp
Sing a silly song to a damselfly

    1. Marie,
The same can be done with frozen mashed strawberries.
A nice thing is you don't need much fruit to satisfy a sweet tooth surge.

  2. So glad you are enjoying the blog break and painting. I can't wait to see the results! Isn't it nice to be able to watch the videos on a big screen? Keep enjoying (and hope your arm eases quickly!)

    1. Jeanie,
Yes, it is nice to watch on the big screen. I don't know why I didn't catch on sooner to YouTube on the smart TV.
The arms are weird this year. The usual sore flu shot arm isn't sore today. The new covid shot arm is the sore one.

    1. Hello Debra,
Walnuts are a great snack food. A walnut strudel is a goal to learn how to make one to freeze. Within the week I will show the artwork I've finished.

  6. We always have frozen blueberries on hand and add some to our breakfast cereal every morning. They're supposed to be good for lowering cholesterol.
Really wish they'd hurry up and have the the flu and covid boosters ready here because I'd like to get them before we go away next month.

    1. Maryanne,
I hope the shots are ready soon in your area as well.
I had several hours of feeling really lousy hours after my shots.
It is a sign effect I rarely have.

  7. This is the first time I have heard of blueberry milk and I too have been picking blueberries since I was a kid. sounds great.
I have not thrifted much this summer too many people around and I refuse to push though to thrift. But fall is here and things will calm down.

    1. Cathy,
The thrift stores are a nice get out and about, change of pace, place to see folks. I'm not keen on the crowds sometimes, but it is nice to chat with folks.
Fall is when it gets busy around Vermont for leaf peeping season.
