A Little Fleece Will Do

Fingerless Wrist Warmer |
A thrift store buy on discount, a piece of fleece at 3 inches shy of a yard, 60 inches wide, makes a scarf, a neck cowl, a tuque and fingerless wrist warmers (photo). The fleece camouflage like patten is an evergreen forest. I will be stylin’!
Basting first by hand, they fit except the tuque. Online images shows how the fleece is to be cut for the hat. So I cut a shape similar to those pictures. I didn’t measure everything.
The tuque will fit a donkey. The back seam allowance is not only too wide, I didn’t sew on the stitching line.

The wide rolled cuff is very comfy |
The wrist warmers are comfortable. With no fingers covered, a cell phone responds without the hassle of taking gloves off.
An online pattern shows 4.5 inches wide on double layer fleece. Measure your wrist first for the best fit.
I like the snug 4.5” but they don’t have a lot of slide power/stretch. I think shaping them to be wider at the arm end than the hand end is more comfortable fit wise.
You’ve been busy. Double fleece will be so cozy!
ReplyDeleteMarie,
DeleteWrist warmers are so very comfortable, it is amazing to me more folks don’t wear them. They have a nice elegant feeling.
That looks so soft and warm. I like the wider arms on the fleece too. And your rings seem to make the outfit!

Sheri,
DeleteThey are super warm and very comfortable. They are similar to putting on a hat on a cold windy day. A 9”x9” square of fleece, one seam with reverse seam on the hand end for the rolled cuff.
I bought the little turquoise ring about 30 years ago. I’m surprise the metal hasn’t worn away.

Very cute. Judging by my closet, you would think fleece is my favorite fabric. Well, I think it probably is!
ReplyDeleteJeanie,
DeleteQuality fleece last a long time. It is the most comfortable fabric to wear in winter.
Fleece is so warm and cozy. Your wrist warmer looks wonderful. I need something like that for my thumbs.
ReplyDeleteMaryanne,
DeleteA fleece thumb tube would be easy to make or attach to wrist warmers. The fleece around my wrists is a cushion against a hard table edge.
