Day 53 of Week 8 February 2025

Winter in Vermont

The photograph above is one of my top 10 favorite winter scenes in Vermont. I post it at least once a year.

The hedgerow, now long gone, was full of wildlife, sunshine and shadows. To peer into the branches gave me a brief feeling of visiting to a vast forest. Alas, a plastic fence is where the hedgerow use to be.

Have an Embracing Nature Weekend!

Make a robust soup
Hand sew fleece wrist warmers
Read about snowshoes
Call an old friend
Browse summer pajamas online
Have cheese fondue
Plan an herb garden or planter
Be good to yourself

Spring is 26 days away!

  1. It really is a gorgeous photo! It's like Spring here today so I'll enjoy it. I've lived in places with lots of snow too so I'm glad to be where it's warm now. Did you look at those videos on youtube of the lady that reads to her dogs? I know you would love it!

  2. That is a lovely winter scene, Maewyn (hope I have spelled your name correctly, please let me know). I made 2 pots of soup this week and spoke with a few friends, wrote letters and cards to others, and yes was good to myself.

  4. Hah - 26 days. Don't I wish! There's a heck of a lot of snow to melt long before that happens. I was tempted to order a Vesey's seed catalogue this morning but then I remembered that it would be a waste of paper because we don't have that kind of garden anymore. I will have to visit their web site instead.

  5. Maryanne,
Holding a hardcopy paper seed catalog in winter is a mini vacation.
    Consider ordering one.

    1. Jan,
      Soup this week is perfect.
A thermos filled for an outdoors lunch will be nice.

  7. That's a beautiful wintery picture. Is that a red house that I see in the distance behind the branches? This is a good list. Cheese fondue sounds delicious. Have a lovely week.

    1. Sheri,
The cheese fondue is so easy to make. For the leftover, toss in some veggies.
