Something To Notice
The weather today appears to be a dreary wintery mix that calls to my heart to find a good book to read. I notice from finding old book lists, I don’t read enough.
Also, I forgot to add a weekly foreign phrase as posted a few weeks ago here.
How is the weather?
Something else I notice: Years ago in the early 2000s, Internet trolls cruised comments on discussion boards frequently. A tactic meant to upset people is to accuse them of the bad behavior. Comments directed to trolls would be twisted into a don’t tell me what to do or don’t tell me how I should feel.
The troll’s goal is to escalate the discussion by acting as the victim. Yesterday, I watched part of the video where President Zelensky of the Ukraine is subjected to pure spot on classic troll behavior. I applaud him for keeping his cool.
If it was me, I would have wanted to stand up and walk out. I know I wouldn’t do that because the people of my country need the help the trolls can provide to survive the unprovoked invasion and brutal slaughter at the hands of Russia.
Zelenskyy kept his cool remarkably well for being ganged up on by the head of state and the second in command of the U.S.
ReplyDeleteMarie,
DeleteI suspect a lot of people around the globe fell Zelensky feel the same. It is a difficult video to watch.
I admire President Zelensky very much. He showed great restraint in that terrible meeting. It is hard not to talk about politics. But I think we need to stand up for what is right. I stand with Ukraine.
ReplyDeleteI hope your grey days give way to brighter ones. Winter is on its last hurrah.
Lorrie,
DeleteThe sunshine is bright again today! The longer days give way to a lot of smiling.
My good wishes for the new month of March.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Happy March to you Jan!
DeleteDefinitely being trolled. It was pathetic and insulting and embarrassing. He did the right thing but what control. I'm going to read today too. No news for me (though I will watch the Oscars!)
ReplyDeleteJeanie,
DeleteThe Oscars was made enjoyable by Conan O'Brien, the parts I watched.
The gowns I always look forward to seeing. are another award show disappointment. I read a comment over on AOL about knowing the difference between a gown and a costume. Nowadays the gowns are about who can stand out as ridiculous.
Good books are always a good antidote. I read on another blog that there are a series of books based on the 'Call The Midwife' series that are supposedly quite good. I'm hoping to find them at the library.
ReplyDeleteMaryanne,
DeleteA trip to the library sounds perfect.
I finally found my library card. It was in a safe place I forget about.
