Keeping Tabs
A Rabbit |
Ahem.
Day 2 of stepping back from blogging, floors washed, [enough] laundry done, I’m sitting here looking out the window thinking of when is the last time I Googled my blog name. It has been a while.
Keeping tabs on your blog name as well as your name is good common sense.
There are people that don’t bother to search the Internet to see if a title is already being used.
As time goes by, and you continue to blog, search engines will have more key words, and I believe statistics, for searches of your blog name.
The results a few years ago, most likely will not be the same as the results today.
For example, today I found two more blogs using the name Salty Pumpkin in various ways. One is from 2017 and appears inactive. In 8 years, this is the first time I’ve seen that blog in my search results. It is good to know what is going on out there even when it is old news.
As for name searches, many years ago, after my mother passed away, the search results of her name showed she lived, died and was buried in about 4 different states.
Do you regularly search your blog and/or name on the Internet?
I haven't for a bit but I should.
ReplyDeleteJeanie,
DeleteHappy Searching!

I haven't found any other blogs with my name, but when I first started blogging, we were going to use a different blog name, but it turned out someone had already been using it. I don't think she blogs anymore, but we actually became blog friends. Yours is pretty unique - I imagine there is no one out there with that name. I'm glad you are getting household chores done. That always makes one feel better.

Sheri,
DeleteYour blog name is unique as well. The millions of blog names out there is mind boggling.

No I don’t but will in future.
ReplyDeleteMarie,
DeleteSearching can be fun adding different keywords. I always search adding the word blog.

My blog name was selected by my husband and myself as a possible name for a B&B and was after what we named our home in VA. It’s why we misspelled penguin as penguinn which also made it unique. i have done blog searches when considering a second blog and have found names already taken, but some not used.
ReplyDeleteBeatrice,
DeleteThat is interesting adding the misspelling Inn. Searching opens a different view of what folks are doing. I usually find band or song titles in my searches for blog names.
I know there are other 'Magpie's' out there but I don't think there's any that combine it with Mumblings'. Time for another check though, thank you for the reminder.
ReplyDeleteMaryanne,
DeleteYou have a great blog name!
Good searching
