Pen, ink & watercolor 2015~2020 20”x13.5” on Arches 140 lb cold press |
Another summer 2025 addition to my agenda is looking back on my artwork to access, decide and move forward.
As a break from impressionism, pen & ink abstract watercolors are a way of releasing a me I am also comfortable with. The style has boundaries that don’t command the same composition issues that painting a landscape does because I determine the landscape in my abstract drawings. While it is true, Composition is composition, in abstracts the feeling to me is different.
The above drawing I worked on for 5 years. It is the most complicated of all this style of watercolors I have done. This summer I will begin another large watercolor abstract that will be 99% finished by fall. 😎
What I will be doing is posting the stages of how I develop the ink composition, adding color, changes and it is done. Right now the process has begun as I go over in my mind what I want to draw.
I'm not comfortable doing abstracts but I just love yours. The colors, the line, everything about it. This will be fascinating to follow you.
