The outdoors on a sunny day soothes the soul. After yesterday’s dental appointment stress, today feels much lighter. Thus, I will visit nature even if I only sit outside my door.
For a limited time that is because it is forecast to be in the upper eighty degrees Fahrenheit (30°C).
The like it or not part …
Getting up in the morning has been very difficult for over a month. I have sometimes not been up until mid afternoon. That is disturbing to me. Thus, I decided that when I wake in the morning, I will get up and stretch no matter what.
Today on day one, I woke just before 4 AM! I got up, puttered, made coffee and did a very lazy stretch session.
Then I went back to sleep just after 6 AM.
Half success is still success.
Tomorrow, I will get dressed for the day and work on a painting or my summer story. No breaks until 10 AM.
When our routine changes, I feel, we need to take action, not brush it off as aging, what we ate or just a bout of laziness.
What is getting me down may not be one thing. It can be a group of things taking a larger form like rain drops on a window. Eventually, the destination reveals itself in whatever, as the saying goes, is at the heart of the matter.
A few hours after my stretching, my elbows feel tender. 🤣
I really do hate those 4 am wake ups, but I hate them even more when I haven't gotten to sleep until after 2. Alas no naps happen in this house because the RC feels that I shouldn't nap else I won't sleep at night and he makes certain he makes enough noise to keep me awake. I, on the other hand, when I see him napping tiptoe around trying to be quiet. Two different philosophies on sleep here.
ReplyDeleteMaryanne,
DeleteIt is not easy to make it so you don’t wake early.
RC needs to know nobody naps that doesn’t need one. 🤣

Sometimes getting up early in the morning, making a cup of coffee, and just stepping outside or opening the door to let the fresh air in, starts our day with wonder. The deer are coming around more right now, and have seen one in the neighborhood several times. It's always a sight to behold.
ReplyDeleteSheri,
DeleteThat quiet early morning in nature is magical.

I read someplace that if you can't sleep and awake early, that it's best to get out of bed and do something rather than lie these restless. GOod to read that your elbows are feeling better.
ReplyDeleteBeatrice,
DeleteThat is true and a good way to go.
This morning it tired me out enough to go back to sleep.
Tomorrow, I will stay awake, no AM nap.
