Brrr Season

 Cold weather is here!

After I wear a jacket two days in a row, it is officially winter to me. That is my signal to put a shovel and my collection of ice scrapers in the vehicle trunk. With deicer and gloves by the front door, and boots where I can find them, I feel blizzard ready.

What about the negative attitude towards winter? Where does that go to help me through the season?

Turn those not good feelings into thinking of winter as the season of I love soup, hot toddies, hot chocolate and Oh! How pretty !

Remember this stuff?

  1. Maywyn your post had me smiling...two days in a row of wearing a jacket is probably a real good sign it won't be long before we see that white stuff. I hope not before our leaves change color. We still have not had a killing frost here. It is staying in the 60's this week and dropping into the 30's at night - so it is coming I am sure. Like your good thoughts on Hot chocolate and soup. Hugs!

    1. Debbie,
Wow, no hard frost yet in Ohio. Y’all are having a mild autumn. It is as beautiful there in the fall as it is in New England

      Soup sounds good.
A nice roasted pumpkin soup is a thought.

  4. Sadly, I don't want to remember what you're showing in that photo! Hearing people scrape their windshields earlier in the week meant the RC located our ice scrapers and put them in the car. Would be nice if we didn't have to use them. You've reminded me that I have to investigate my winter gloves to see if I need new ones. They don't do much to keep my hands from hurting though, no matter what kind I buy...even the ones that boast about keeping your hands toasty warm in the coldest of temps. Hah - they lie....

    1. Maryanne,
The warmest gloves I've had are fleece lined leather that fit well. They are nice inside fleece gloves. You can also use silk glove liners for extra warmth.

  5. Winter has become one of my favorite seasons here in the mountains. Yes, there will be snow to shovel, but there are so many other things to enjoy throughout winter. It's getting colder here too - 35 when I got in my car one morning. I wish you well this winter season, my friend. And it's wise of you to get those shovels and gloves and boots ready. : )

Winter in the mountains is beautiful.
The hard frost makes cold weather a reality.

  7. Shen the weather and seasons change enough for me to don a jacket, Maywyn, I am really ecstatic as summer is my least favorite season. Thankfully, we no longer own a shovel as there’s no need for it here living in a mill apt. Our cars do have the necessary scrapers and a small shovel. Soup is another favorite now, especially butternut squash.

    1. Beatrice,
Cleaning off snow is a winter highlight. 🤣
Yay to butternut squash! That is my favorite soup.
I tried a chili using squash. It is not my best recipe, as the squash flavor over powers the chili. Going to try again.
