Mug Hunt Season

Yesiree, it is time to browse around for a holiday and/ or winter mug

Over the years, I am proud to report that I have bought more mugs than I have broken. This year, I’m into chipping  instead of breaking it up. Three of my mega mugs, (for multiple marshmallows in hot chocolate [and for hot toddies]), have tiny chips.  I might be able to repair them using ceramic paint

By Pfaltzgraff, Holiday Cheer pattern was discontinued in 2007. I think that’s sad because it is a lovely and simple design. There are dishes to match. I was lucky to buy two mugs and a salad plate at a local thrift store. Perfect for munching off my holiday snack tray, a tradition with me since 1975. Wow! That’s will be 50 years this December.

Tip: Fluid fabric paint. I used it over liquid sew to repair my black puffer coat. The repair shows but isn’t nasty looking.

  1. I do like your star mug. Pity that's discontinued. It's a wonderful design.

      Jeanie,
Sales probably rule the designs they produce. Maybe someday it will return.

  6. This is certainly the time to find holiday themed mugs in thrift store. We used to have quite a few, but now I only have a single one so may be on the hunt too.

Nordic design mugs on Etsy are charming. A white mug and ceramic paints can be a neat holiday fun project.

  7. Thanks too for the tip about fluid fabric paint which I will keep in mind as I also have a puffer coat. It was bought for the Alaska trip but never needed.

    1. Beatrice,
Using liquid sew, caution is a required as it will get all over everything. Have all the tools you need to make sure the liquid goes where it belongs.

  8. It's always a delight to see your new mugs for the year. This one is pretty, and looks like the Christmas season. And it can go into the new year too. It's wonderful.

    1. Sheri,
Pfaltzgraf has a set of 4 mugs in red and navy blue with a snowflake design. I had to cancel my order because they don't ship to PO boxes. Especially this time of year, mailing to a PO box is much safer.

  9. No doubt you could find more of those mugs on E-bay although goodness knows how expensive they might be.

    1. Maryanne,
With shipping costs so high, mugs are too pricey online unless they are on sale. The mug I love on Etsy is expensive at about $16.00.
