Shut Down Woes

Many folks are in desperate need due to the government shut down. Food assistance is a benefit impacted by the lack of funding being released on time. No paycheck impact is horrific.

In Vermont it has been reported that by 7 November half the 3Squares aka SNAP benefit will be paid by Vermont to the qualifying Vermonters. The other half from the federal government is reported to be released but I have read no information if or when that may happen.

Note, the Vermont funded deposits, according to an AI information, may take a day or two to be posted on accounts. The banks probably have no information when deposits will be posted.

Your header photograph is lovely, the colours of the leaves quite beautiful.

    1. Jan,
It is a heart breaking situation. There is hope the people that support the person in charge, finally face the truth of who he is.
      Have a wonderful weekend

  2. It's a mess. And a great time to support food banks.

    1. Jeanie,
I’ve seen online that people are doing pop-up food banks in their yards. It brings tears to my eyes to see people helping others.

  3. One wonders how long the shutdown will drag on and just how much damage is going to come from it. It's the ordinary people who are suffering, certainly not the politicians themselves.

    1. Maryanne,
I expect the disruption no paycheck causes spreads wide. Cancellations, lost deposits and such are a nightmare. What is happening to bring suffering to the American people has to be a turning point for those who voted that leadership into office.

  4. The shutdown certainly makes the news here in Canada. I can't imagine how so many people will manage without their paychecks. And the government doesn't seem to care one whit.

    1. Lorrie,
People should have been stocking up for months what they could. The actions out of the executive office is real, scary and an indication Americans need to be prepared for horrible situations like what is going on now. It could get worse, imho.

    1. Yes, William, it is frustrating.
Mind boggling there are so many people supporting the men that cause the problems.
