Winter Photo: The Old Pinwheel

For years, I kept a pinwheel on a post anchored in an umbrella stand. As an alternative to a wind sock, the spin is entertaining. This year, though, a wind sock is a possibility.

  1. I fear a wind sock wouldn’t last too long here. It would blow away.

    1. Marie,
Good point. Strong wind is the reason to buy a sturdy wind sock..
I think I’m going for a wood twirling thing, like a weather vane pinwheel blend.

  2. I'd like a pinwheel, if only because of the colours.

    1. Maryanne,
The shiny pinwheels from a discount store don’t last long. The thick plastic ones need to be secured down well.

  3. We have a twirling garden ornament that I enjoy watching go round and round on windy days. Sturdiness is the key!
