Strange. There are bloggers over the years that disappear, slow down or just stop blogging. Years ago, I stopped cleaning out the dormant blogs I follow because of mishaps losing a blog or two. Some of the blogs I read moved to places that require a sign in to leave a comment. Add that to Gmail doesn’t save my emails anymore, a few favorite blogs are very difficult to find once lost.
Senior years living on the lake, is one such blogger that despite many tries, search engines won’t give up showing me senior living facilities search results.
So, if I read your blog and haven’t commented in a long time, say hello, please.
Thank you

I find it sad that some bloggers tend to fade away and it's hard to understand why. Some bloggers lose their enthusiasm for blogging, others have gone to Instagram or some other social media sites and some have passed away. Sometimes in the case of a blogger passing away one of their family members will make a post to let people know.
ReplyDeleteI am glad for the ones who continue with their blog on Blogger.
Thank you so much for sharing.
Linda,
DeleteBeing glad for the bloggers that continue is a good direction.
The fading blogs create a feeling of grief something bad happened. There probably isn’t a backup person to post why the blog stops.

I always feel sad when a blogger stops posting. Another friend gone!
ReplyDeleteMarie,
DeleteSo true, that is how it feels when a blogger stops.

I would hope that, if something were to happen to me, our #2 son would post an update on my blog. I think he would because he's posted on there before. Perhaps I need to put a note in my file where we keep our wills and other important papers to remind him.
ReplyDeleteLike you, I've noticed a lot of bloggers dropping away and, provided they are doing it themselves and not through circumstances beyond their control, I wonder why. I know a lot moved over to Instagram but I've seen several return to blogging too. I sometimes wonder if a lack of response in the way of comments makes some people feel they are writing to no audience and they get discouraged.
Maryanne,
DeleteVery good point about comments. I see some blogs with dozens of comments and others with a few. Both are good blogs. It is sad. Here stays about the same even when bloggers fade.

Hello. Blogging definitely has changed since I started blogging. Lots of people have gone to Instagram and such, but I like the communication that our blogs give. It's nice to see what's happening in each other's lives. : )
ReplyDeleteSheri,
DeleteI agree, blog communications are better than Instagram.
On Instagram, people will beg for followers, but they don’t follow back. Replies are mainly by viewer to viewer, not the poster. It is weird over there.

A few bloggers I have been reading over the years have disappeared. Sadly, some have passed away and in at least 3 instances, a family member did an update post. The bloggers had mentioned their health conditions in their posts, but still it was sad to read that had died. Other bloggers have disappeared from the blog world, some occasionally return. There are those who now prefer FB or Instagram, which hold no interest for me as I don't care about followers, but rather content and blogging is more interesting to me because I like to write and tell stories too.
ReplyDeleteBeatrice,
DeleteYour blog is amazing to read. I hope you continue for years.
I didn’t think until this post to make plans in case I can’t blog anymore. I’ll have to make a post to give to someone to take care of.

I May! I decluttered my blogs this week and a long time ago, I did leave the blogs that made me sign in and leave an email to comment. I love blogging though and reading them. Really a fun thing. I'm glad that Blogger is still here! Wishing you a yummy rest of your day. Cheers, Ivy.
ReplyDeleteGood to see you, Ivy!
DeleteI’m still searching for blogs I miss. Comments are a good source to find someone.

I hope you find them. Yes, and blog rolls too help finding lost blogs.
DeleteBecause I don't want to forget bloggers, I've taken to putting links to old blogs in a different spot on my blog. The ones where the owners have died, of course, are the most sad, but their blogs are a sweet reminder of what these people contributed to life (to my life) while living.
ReplyDeleteBecki,
DeleteGood idea to have a way to save blogs. I will give that a try.
