The Last Monday of February 2026

An Early Bird

What say y’all about this month
sprinting into March?
I say, Whoa!

Storing up ways to create slow weeks is a worthy endeavor. A problem with that, as I see it, is that I don’t like the best one. Getting up early.

If I rise early feeling spiffy, then that is all right. I go with it. But up at sunrise for me has lost its luster. There’s no good reason why that changed.

Changing back to starting my day early feels reasonable to me. Today is a wash as 6 AM* was hours ago. I’m setting this Tuesday’s wake-up alarm for 6 AM.

Are you an early riser?

Does starting the day early make the day feel longer for you?

* Day one of 6 AM alarm: 😂 Birds aren’t even up.I don’t like this idea of 6 AM at this time. Will try again in April.

  1. I am an early riser and I just love the mornings. Especially spring and summer mornings. I'm not sure if that makes the day longer or not-but you could try it!

    1. Debra,
After a recent early AM appointment, the day felt really long. I thought gee, I can still get up early. 😂

  2. Beautiful photo. ❤️ I used to be an early riser but in the last year or so not. Thankfully I have an appointment with my doctor next Monday and I will tell her because I'm not used to feeling as tired as I have been.
Thank you so much for sharing.

    1. Linda,
Current events make shorter days more attractive.
I use to like starting the day early. This year it has been a struggle to rise. I think the depressing news every day is the problem.
      Prayers for your health

  3. Yes, waking up very early makes it a longer day, and I usually need a nap in the afternoon. But I'm an early bird, and it's my favorite and most peaceful time of the day.

    1. Sheri,
I like sunrises in summer. I had a nap later afternoon after being awake since the 6 AM alarm.
      I shut it off. 🤣

  4. I rise earlier more easily in the warmer months. Even if I wake up with early, we keep the house too chilly through the night for me to eagerly pop out from underneath the warm covers. I do wish I was more motivated to just get up and get going. I lose a lot of wonderful quiet time lingering in the warmth of the bed.

    1. Be kind,
If your system keeps you in bed, then it was what you needed. 😂
      Think positive.

  5. I don't like 6 am mornings, but that's because I often don't get to sleep until 2 or 3 am. We generally get up at 8, no matter what.

    1. Maryanne,
You have a good wake up time. Eight AM is perfect. 👍
I’m going to change my alarm to 8 AM.
