A recent comment started me to thinking about what Blogspot was like circa 2010.
How we got so far away from 2010 is mind boggling. Remember the days of comment glitches, and every time Blogger changed something or added a new feature, things got wonky? Do you remember when the new magazine style templates were added to Themes?
I thought then that they would be very popular. Without statistics, a guess wouldn’t be useful.
Fun question : What are things you remember about Blogspot from 15 years ago?
Than you for visiting

Hello,
ReplyDeleteI have been on blogspot for 17 years now. It seems like only a few blogs are around from when I first started my blog. Blogging is something I like doing and I can not see me stopping any time soon. I do admit I am more of a photo blog than a writers blog. Thanks for visiting my blog. Take care, have a great weekend.
Eileen,
DeleteYour blog duck photos made my day. They are do Spring weather beautiful, I’m encouraged to visit the local nature preserve.
A great weekend to you

i started my blog in 2010. i remember being "locked" out for a long period, unable to update. i also remember that when you left a comment, it always appeared right away. now with all the spam, most peeps are moderating their comments. and i miss a lot of the people i started with, so many are gone!! most of my blog posts are in books and i really enjoy looking back!!
ReplyDeleteDebbie,
DeleteComment moderation is the rule nowadays. That brings back memories. Scary to think of the no moderation days. I switched moderation on after reading another blogger’s difficulties with somebody posting rude comments around.

Blogging sure is different from 15 years ago. People are on instagram and other sites, but I still find pleasure in posting, showing the happenings of our life, and learning things from other bloggers, and well as their wonderful friendships. I do remember there was a time when things changed drastically, and me not being a techy person, had a very hard time of it. But we figure things out, and it's a place that is special to my heart.
ReplyDeleteSheri,
DeleteBlogspot dies have a special vibe other places don’t come close to. The glitchy days here are way lower than many years ago for sure.

I started blogging in 2007 - wow, that's almost 20 years ago! I first started to connect with other crafty people, but have slowly changed to more of a slice of life blog.
ReplyDeleteComment moderation is something I have only done in the past few years when some terrible comments started being made. And I do miss some of the bloggers I used to read faithfully. I'm very happy with this little space in the ether!
Lorrie,
DeleteHappy almost 20! Has a nice ring to it. Your style of blogging is interesting how well it flows with the seasons. I like your recipe page section as well.

We started in 2013. We've been lucky with a lot of the glitches that others have reported over the years.
ReplyDeleteJim & Barb,
DeleteGlitch easy is wonderful. Most I’ve had were due to privacy settings.

I've been on since 2007 and fortunately been able to weather the glitch period. I haven't had one in a long while. I don't know if they are more on to of it but it seems that way. I miss some of the blogs that have died out, but I suppose you have to really love it to stick as long as we have, especially if you have no other motivation (like a marketing tool).
ReplyDeleteJeanie,
DeleteWow! 2007! Happy you! 💐👏
There was a time circa 2010, I had a good list of blogs to read in different states and countries. Now, blogs I read are as rewarding a group as the comments I receive. If any of them stop blogging, it is heartbreaking. So, after a heavy surge of sadness, I decided to keep on blogging.

I still remember when I got my first comment from someone who wasn't family or in-person friend and how exciting it was. My blog wasn't started with the idea of any attempt to attract followers beyond my kids so it's still a pleasant surprise that people choose to interact with me. I've developed several really good friendships online too, which was another big surprise. I started blogging in 2006 and never dreamed I would still be going.
