Patriot’s Day, is the day of the Boston Marathon, the 3rd Monday in April. Patriot’s Day celebrates the Revolutionary War battles at Concord and Lexington, Massachusetts.
The environment of my early years is attached to Concord. It is the paternal home of my family. It is where my younger sister, father, and extended family are buried. I feel at home there more than any other place on Earth. Concord will likely be my final resting place as well.
Exploring your family history can create a comfort view of family as well as Self. The places where you lived as a child spent with family especially, I feel, have a stronger relationship with the part of our hearts that cares for who we are.
Are there places that you feel are a strong part of you? Is there a special day close to your heart?

I was born ten miles from here and my DH is local too. Can't imagine living anywhere else at this point but with the influx of new housing and the resulting traffic issues we might end up rethinking that. The crime rate has climbed tremendously too and that's another concern.
ReplyDeleteMaryanne,
DeleteIt is sad to see your home area change in negative ways.
I’ve seen what you describe in the Boston area countryside, now choked in traffic.

My family is from the Mid Thumb area of Michigan. I currently am living at the bottom of our Thumb. Some day I will return and be buried up there amongst other family members at the cemetery on the hill. Janice
ReplyDeleteJanice,
DeleteIt is comforting to visit departed family. Michigan is a beautiful state.
