Day 163 of Week 24 June 2026

The Heat Advisory out of KBTV issued by the National Weather Service station, puts a summer vibe over the day here in Vermont.

Outdoors, I put up the small umbrella to shade part of the concrete deck. Indoors, the cool A/C air is much appreciated. It is muggy out there.

Please, review hot weather safety tips at weather.gov. Update your vehicle’s hot weather safety pack.

Spruce trees up ( i typed only spruce up) your summer wardrobe with light shirts, shorts, for gals flowy skirts, sundresses and loose linen tops. After all, shlepping across the parking lot in the brutally hot sun, you might as well look stylish.

Have a Styling Cool Weekend!

Make a mango smoothie
Draw your favorite bird
Write yourself a note to open in a year
Read about door knob history
Browse online straw hats
Search for an old tin tub
Start a new collection of something

Looking good to be sunflowers
Update 15 June 2026: whatever flower it may be, today I found the plant drooping over near dead. The flowers nearby are upright and appear to be fine. I have no idea why one plant fails while others don’t.
It looks like a broken stem, but I’ve found none.

  1. Remember Aunt Clara from Bewitched? She loved doorknobs. Shade covering sounds good.

Old door knobs that are normal, are fun to collect.

    1. Jan,
The UK robins are adorable compared to American robins.Uk robins look like they just came out of a fancy tea room. American robins look like they just flew through a wilderness survival course.

  5. oooh - I'd love a mango smoothie right about now! But....at over $3 for one solitary mango, it's not going to happen.
Funny you should mention door knobs because that very subject came up earlier this week. Someone I follow had one mounted on a nice piece of wood and she was using it to hang things from. Reminded me that I kept a glass knob for years, not knowing what to do with it, and I finally sent it to the thrift store. Now I wish I had it!

    1. Maryanne,
After selling online began, a good vintage door knob isn’t easy to find. Your donated door knob probably has somebody’s hat hanging on it.
