What's Your Favorite Color?

Colorful Summer Blouse

The colors I go for are ecru, white, gray, denim, and khaki green, Earth colors.

At the thrift store yesterday, I considered the blouse in the photo, (even though the colors aren't my usual). I held on to the summery blouse for a while before putting it back on the rack.

Yesterday, once again, I had forgoten my donations. On my return today with the donations, the jacket I wanted is there, but the skirt is gone. That's all right because I wasn't all that keen on the skirt anyway.

On the Tops rack, the blouse was still there. The colors are very flashy. But, I like every thing about the piece, including the colors. Frustrated by my indecision, I asked a shopper to help me decide between another top I was holding and the blouse. She chose the blouse. I said thank you, I will buy it. All I needed was a push over the edge. Laughing.

There it is draped over the edge of the sofa where I can see it. Now I'm deciding what to pants to wear with it. I'm also thinking about changing out the buttons.

Have you ever asked another shopper for their opinion?

Monday Morning Pondering

Nasturtium

A thought. If I stare at a color in the morning, then what hue will help stimulate my brain to wake up and get going? I think a warm color like orange is a no brainer as it is a cheery color.

Browsing old photographs, I find the nasturtium in sunlight to be a good place to start. A peppery tasting plant, I feel it has the lift that can help me.
Noting the sunshine in the photo factors in, summer is 115 days away. Better to focus on Spring that is only 22 days away.

Every morning this week, Monday to Friday, I will spend a few minutes looking at the orange flower. I will write down my energy levels and what I did that day. On Saturday, I will post my findings.

No doubt there is a study somewhere doing a similar exercise experiment. I want my results. Maybe this week I'll find a study to read.

Is there a color that perks you up?

Photograph of February 2023

 Lichen in February

The more I try to find a photograph I like, the more I realize the photo has to discover me.

Drawn to vibrant mid tone colors, I find shape has less power over what I like in a picture. I then question how I feel about color, the emotion, versus composition, the all of it. Searching color online, I plop down on the intrigue of the Munsell Color System. In Wikipedia, I see the unfamiliar word, colorimetry. And so it goes...

All I wanted is a favorite February photograph.
