Health & Sunshine Enjoyment

California Poppy Seedlings 2024

After my previous post, I've decided to lean towards health and fitness information and entertainment. What do I see the first I click on Health?

Information about women and heart attacks.

Thank you, just what I need to cheer me up, another caution about what could shorten my life. If I keel over this week from a heart attack, the headline can read:

Blogger nearly predicts demise, Watch for the Signs

Seriously, know the signs of a heart attack is important because it can save your life. Please don't wait and see. Call, report your symptoms and let the professional decide the next step. If you aren't satisfied with the information, then get a 2nd opinion. 911 may be your solution.

Symptoms of a Heart Attack

Right off, I, once again, decide to put effort into being outdoors more to enjoy the sunshine and fresh air. I use sunscreen as well as an umbrella as a parasol. Speaking of which, this year I need to find a new umbrella for walking as what I have are old or too dark.
For my health, aside from a good diet, enough sleep, exercise is crucial to being healthy, mind and body. So far, I've lost 3 pounds. Keeping it off means telling the lemon sandwich cookies...No!
Creating my own trail mix can take care of cravings for sweets. Mixing up a flavored water will also help in that regard. Adding more veggies and being creative with salads is also a goal.

What is your favorite exercise for sunshine? For rainy days? Do you mix your own trail mix? Flavored water?

When the Sunshine Is Just Right

Spider Plant & Friends

The plants are moved to the dining table for a  bask in the February morning sunshine. They can see outdoors to be glad they aren't out there on a very windy day. The outside flap for the stove hood vent signals  high winds to me before I even look out the window.

Moving my life around to be in the sunshine would be nice. But, that would take a major move to a much lower latitude. Do you know the latitude you live at?

If you go to forecast.weather.gov (National Weather Service, NWS), and put in your zip code, then you will see a topographical map on the right with the Point Forecast for that station's zip code. Your exact coordinates can be taken by using a compass with that feature. (How far down from the North Pole you are and how far west from the meridian in Greenwich, England.)

A fun bucket list item is to see what it feels like to be on Earth's  Equator. According to Wikipedia, there are 13 countries that it passes through. The closests to me would be in South America. Interesting though, Hawaii is the American state closests to the Equator at almost 19ºNorth.
At 44ºNorth, I'm a ways away from the Equator. I haven't even passed through the Equator.

Have you been on the Equator? To Hawaii? South America?

Welcome To September

Cosmos in Morning Sunlight

The morning sun provides lovely light for taking photographs. Consider planting to capture that sunshine in a garden for photography. Those cosmos were gorgeous in person.

Lens Flare Sunshine Angel

Sunshine Angel

Sunday's game didn't turn out as I hoped. Sad. Puzzled. Love the Philadelphia Eagles just the same.

Puttering is embracing February rather well. Dusting, sorting, organizing rule. Downsizing wants none of it. Instead, I'm shifting aka putting things back where they really belong. I am convinced I will never go without finding buttons because they are everywhere.  Wires to things are also numerous, but none thus far is the one I've been looking for. I hope they don't share that skill with the buttons.

Overall, the dining table surface, fully visible except for a drawing board on the sanded half, is always a comforting sign that I've managed to do something.

Happy Day 45 of 2023 in week 7!
