Not Out, Just About
Discovery. The source of silver glitter here and there following me around is from a plastic sprig of pine. The glitter does add a magical vibe to my home.
Projects old & new. Sorting my fabric stash has begun, my domestic archaeology style dig. I have quilting plans to start, and culling for a donation bag.
The lemon is cheerful as a reminder it is time to make a lemon meringue pie.
Food. A lovely source of potassium, pitted dates have brightened the drearies of winter for me. At Hannaford's in Middlebury, Vermont, they are on the shelf under the display near the bananas. For a morning snack between the 1st snd 2nd meals, 2 or 3 dates are perfect with spring water.
Old Project Found! It is a nice surprise to find a throw pillow cover I started years ago, pinned and ready to sew up. The Medieval theme upholstery fabric is enough for only one large pillow cover.
That is how my week is so far. Glitter. Knee pain. Blahs. I'm getting use to them all.
Not the bird though that banged into the patio window just now. I suspect a hawk.
How is your 6th week of 2023 going?
Fellow medjool date lover here, great morning fruit snack.
ReplyDeleteLiz,
ReplyDeleteThe dates are really good. I wish they were not so hidden to find.
Lemon Meringue pie sounds wonderful. Haven't had that in a long time. Lemons are so good for us, and just to see them on the counter brings smiles. And glitter on cards and notes brings me back to my childhood. What fun it was to make things out of colored construction paper, glitter, glue, and markers. I hope your knee pain gets better.

Thank you, Sheri
ReplyDeleteWinter is as good for pie as it is for soup. The smell of real fresh lemons is a whiff of summer. :)
Love dates. Such a great snack, occasionally.
ReplyDeleteDear Maywyn I can help you eat that lemon meringue pie. That surely would help me over the winter blahs. :)!! Your fabric stash looks like fun. I have some hidden somewhere too. Was not the patterns so pretty back then?? Will have to look for those dates. I am sure they would be a very healthy snack. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteMarie,
ReplyDeleteTwo or 3 dates a day is plenty.
Debbie,
I pray y'all weren't impacted by the derailment.
That would be nice to have coffee and pie with you.
Now, that lemon pie sounds like a great plan and a delicious one at that. I can recall my mother making a couple for summertime get togethers at our home. There were never leftovers. I also like dried dates and figs, which can be a bit chewier so not great for fillings (sigh).
ReplyDeleteSorry to read about the knee pain, here it is another winter cold (not the other "C" word as we did test) but things are improving like the outside temps. Hope you will be as well.
I love that kind of date too. It would be fun to find glitter in the house!
ReplyDeleteI have never eaten dates.
ReplyDeletePrayers your cold is short, Beatrice. I read zinc can reduce the severity of colds.
ReplyDeleteI've been taking it for years. My last recorded real cold in memory was 2010. Sinus infections though.
Fresh figs are much better than dried.
Bought lemon filling today. I'm going for graham crust for added flavor.
Debra,
ReplyDeleteDollar store has good glitter selection, and sometimes picks with glitter. I unwisely used glitter glue on a tee shirt peace sign. Glitter everywhere. lol
William
ReplyDeleteWow! Never had dates is a surprise being dates are sold globally.
Lemon Meringue pie sounds wonderful ...
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Jan,
ReplyDeleteLemon is a winter cheer up treat.
