Allergies, Procrastination & Luck

Old & New

Lovely April showers, a bit of chilly air, a moody blue sky over Chartreuse trees budding almost overnight describes  this 109th day in week 16 of 2023.

Allergy season is off to a bold start. I have a wicked bad sinus headache. Grouchy mood. The 3 pounds I lost is merely water weight.  The story I need to edit is in the 3rd week of procrastination.

Except for naps, the simplest thing has not gone smoothly in April. In it all, I wake nearly every day to an intense feeling of dread. If that isn't bad enough, I heard my brain voice grumbling on that  I'm worthless.
Oh no you don't! I say.
No pity puttering pit party!
Thus, for me, this week will be mental health week, reducing stress, increasing a sense of well being.
I also discovered, by accident, a cold cloth on my nose helps relieve my nasal discomfort.
As for the grouchy mood, good luck to me. 😎

How is your April going?

Comments

  1. My allergies are kicking in as of this morning too - have to bless the trees who are 'doing something' that's detrimental to my nose. Don't know which trees to blame so I'm blamin' them all! Haven't resorted to taking any Benadryl yet but I suspect it's coming.
Don't listen to that brain voice because she doesn't know what she's talking about. Make yourself a special treat and read something uplifting and, most of all, take care of you!

  2. Prayers your allergies are mild!
    Thank you, Maryanne

Turning down the volume on criticism stress is a being good to oneself. A Keep Calm and Carry On moment. :)

  4. Yay for you for kicking out that voice-you most certainly are NOT worthless-you are a child of God, made in His image! Please remember how much you are loved! You are a treasure. (And that's not just words-it's the truth.)

  5. Maywyn praying that your allergies disappear with the coming warm weather. Perhaps that is what is a contributing factor for waking up with a feeling of dread. You naturally are not worthless friend. You are so talented and I so enjoy visiting your posts. Take care and have a great day in spite of April's chill. Hugs!

  7. Liz,
So far, only stuffed aching sinus headaches and a runny nose. I'm going to use a mask when the rain stops. Last year using a mask decreased the pollen intake. Tis green stuff season here.
    Have a wonderful day!

  8. Thank you, Debra, for your kind words.
The dreads are from a more than usual build up from stress sources. I read Bible verses yesterday about calling people dumb. It helps, along with prayer. :)

  9. Thank you, Debbie

It is freezing outside! After the warm weather, the temperature drops a degree and it feels like the North Pole. lol

  10. Pam,
    Sneezing season for sure.
I am lucky that ahchoo episodes have yet to start. The rain washes the air. When things dry, the tree pollen with be quite a bother. It is good, though, to see the forsythias blooming.

  11. So sorry you're feeling not well. My mother-in-law always used to tell me to suck on peppermint candies to open up the sinuses. It really did help me. You are a bright, creative, and thoughtful woman, and don't let anyone tell you different. : )

  17. Oh, I hope you find relief soon for your asthma and allergy problems. April is moving along well here - I'm living in a construction zone and think I'm handling things pretty well, although it is a bit stressful. One more week of intense mess and then things should improve. Meanwhile, the flowers are blooming and I'm looking forward to working in the garden.

  18. Isn't that chartreuse color glorious? I wish it would stay that shade all summer -- it's like a chartreuse mist. I relate to your sinus infection. I have the same and the plugged up ears to prove it, too. Ears and nose. A bad combo. Hang in there.(Nope -- not worthless. Anyone who can take a lovely photo, come up with a clever caption and offer a good idea to help MY nose as much as hers is NOT worthless! Thanks for the tip!)

  19. You are not alone in your allergy misery as my husband has many of the same symptoms now and it makes him grouchy and irritable. Perhaps, that's affecting your moods as well as far as the mornings feelings of dread? Those brain voices can be hard to ignore, and I am sure that many of us have heard them at one time or another, as I have too. Good for you on resolving to reduce stress and concentrate on your well being and worth!

There is also a weight reduction goal happening here. Daily fluctuations can be depressing, especially as I have been increasing my daily water intake, weekly weigh-ins from now on.

  20. Lorrie,
Sorry you have the construction to deal with.
I am looking forward to a picture of your new kitchen.

Allergy issues, I finally gave in and took half a dose of a over the counter allergy medication. It takes the edge off without any drowsiness. I am feeling better.

  21. Jeanie,
    Sorry you have allergy issues.
I agree about ears plugged. Dizzy spells to deal with is unkind of allergies to be so complicated.

Mask wearing when outdoors does help though.

  22. Beatrice,
Not being tethered to a weight scale makes for a happier life. Good luck with your weight loss. I am confident you will achieve your goal.

My scale is cursed. No matter what I eat or how much I exercise, the reading can be the exact same for days on end. I've never seen anything like it. As for foods, if I drink soda or a canned tomato product, then there's a weight gain of 3-5 pounds.
