  1. Some of the best flowers are those wildflowers that grow under our feet. My favorite this time of year are the dandelions and wild violets. I would love to make and eat an apple crisp, but its iff my meal plan for awhile (sigh).

  2. Hi Maywyn...hope your Easter was wonderful and you are enjoying a lovely spring day. Like the idea of keeping a wildflower sketchbook. I have been trying to draw one spring flower each day. Hugs!

  3. Beatrice,
Sorry apple crisps is off your meal plan.
I substitute a baked apple and frozen yogurt, cool whip or just eat the raw apple.

  7. That is a really pretty wildflower. A wildflower sketch journal is a nice idea. Browsing through "kindness" quotes is a good thing to do. We sure need more kindness in the world today.

    Have a peaceful weekend.

  8. Marie,
The ones in the photo are in a heavily protected area that gets lots of sunshine. I was surprised to seem them.

A peaceful weekend to you as well

For a sketch journal, I'm leaning towards making one.

  11. Lovely flower, our dandelions are up here and they are very large here too-I dried some of the flowers already for soap making-will dry up another batch.

  12. The farm fields around here have filled with purple flowers of clover this past week. I'm regretting at the moment that I haven't stopped to take a picture. Maybe it's not too late...

  13. I love coltsfoot! Ours isn't in bloom yet. I think it's so different that the flowers come up before the leaves show. Hope your weather is nice now!

  17. Debra,
It won't be long before flowers bloom there.
    It was 86°F here yesterday.
I saw buds on a crabapple tree today. The recent warmer weather is making plants happy.

  18. I just learned something - didn't know there was such a flower as a coltsfoot and I always thought it was just a funny-looking dandelion. Either way, they're really pretty. Never could understand why people are so hell-bent on eradicating them from their lawns when they're such an important food source for the bees.

  19. Maryanne,
You are right, dandelion greens are a good food source.
As a toddler, we always had organic dandelion greens. It won't surprise me if they become the next food rage over kale. I've had it biting into a kale stem in store bought salads.
