Moon Waxing Gibbous 29 July 2023, 8:58 PM EDT 87% illuminated Vergennes, Vermont |
The next full Moon is 1 August at 2:31 PM EDT, the Sturgeon Moon.
Note on the center edge left a tiny white dot, on zoom appears to be a crater. I believe that is Aristarchus, a 40 KM (25 mile) diameter crater.
An Awesome picture, May. I'll be on the lookout for the next full moon.
ReplyDeleteHi Becki,
ReplyDeleteI hope the skies are clear the next full Moon.
Beautiful capture of the moon.
ReplyDeleteYou can see the craters!
Take care, have a great week!
It seems awhile since I've seen a full moon.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo! I always love a full moon that looks close enough you feel as though you could touch it. When I was working we always knew when the moon was full, even without looking, because it would bring out the crazies in people.
ReplyDeleteAmazing moon shot and am sure you know August has 2 full moon ~ 2nd one is the Blue Moon ~
ReplyDeleteWishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,

Love those full moons in summer!
ReplyDeleteWhat a splendid picture of the moon. I wonder why the crater shows up white. I guess it is the way the sun catches it.
ReplyDeleteEileen,
ReplyDeleteGood zoom on my camera is good. Cell phone won't go to crater closeness.
Have a great Week!
I hope, William, the night sky over Ottawa will be clear the next full Moon!
ReplyDeleteMaryanne,
ReplyDeleteYes, I remember working days were like that. That's so cool you had the same experience.
As I aged, though, I notice during the no moon phase, I can be clumsy.
Carol,
ReplyDeleteThe 2 Moons of August are a real treat. I hope the skies are clear.
Hugs
Marie,
ReplyDeleteSummer Moons do feel more special. The atmosphere feels philosophical and relaxing.
Jenny,
ReplyDeleteI believe you are right that the sun catches the crater just so. I wondered the same thing. Then I saw in a picture the sunshine. It must have a tall ridge.
Don't know much about craters.. thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteIt's good that you know when the names of the full moons when they come. Very cool photo.
ReplyDeleteWishing you happy August days.

ReplyDeleteHi Hena,
ReplyDeleteCraters are fascinating, but not a top must know more about.
Sheri,
ReplyDeleteI know Corn Moon is the September full Moon. The rest I have to look up. :)
A happy August to you!
Hugs, Debbie
ReplyDeleteSome months there are different names for that full moon.
I hope the weather is good enough to see it here!
ReplyDeleteI hope so as well, Jeanie.
ReplyDeleteSo far, it looks like there might be some clear moments for y'all.
