Lazing Around, Optical Illusions & YouTube Burnout
A Bitten Petunia |
As it happens in summer, I've been lazing around doing much of nothing much the last few days. A sort of unannounced blog break (during which I lost 4 pounds...yay me).
The other day we had thunderstorms roll through for over 12 hours. The video I took of the storms south of here, (so far away you didn't hear the thunder) is too large for the photo editing program I have install, (Irfanview), to extract the frames. I downloaded another program. But, when I open it, all it is for is to edit photographs, if I could find where I import them to the program. Ugh.
There is a very nice frame of a tall curly lightening bolt. It took forever to even upload the video. I will keep trying.
Petunias. They are being eaten by something at night. I don't know what it is. And, I'm not sure I want to go out during peak mosquito hours to find out even with bug spray on. Anyway, I look at the photo and find it difficult to focus on the flower. The eaten away places look like petals to me.
I've watched just about every episode of the UK archaeology shows, Time Team, and Time Team Classics. There are a few episodes I've watched twice. I've also watched the host, Tony Robinson's walking programs. Salvage Hunters is no longer live streaming on the Quest Channel. I've seen just about all those episodes that are available on YouTube. The same goes for the fine art painting series that I like. Thus, YouTube burnout has a grip on me, for now.
Burn out happens so quickly for me on TV because most everything is geared to younger people and is loud ~ violent, etc. ~ Prime, Netflix YouTube change everything so fast too ~ sigh ~
ReplyDeleteI tend to read more at night or go for a walk before dinner ~
Wishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,

aka (A Creative Harbor)
Happy Sunday to you.
ReplyDeleteI was in sports yesterday and in the forest, forest is total relaxation...
then I cooked and baked... roulades... cakes in the form of yeast dough plum with butter crumble and yeast dough with cottage cheese and raisins... sewing machine stands for a skirt... so lazy today no.
A hug to you from Viola
12 hours, my gosh. Long storm. Congrats on the 4 pounds. Go you!
ReplyDeleteSoya sauce and veg oil in a dish is good at attracting and killing pests in the garden according to what I’ve read. I haven’t had to use it yet though.
ReplyDeleteCarol,
ReplyDeleteNo TV here for months now.
I don't miss it much.
Viola,
ReplyDeleteYour day sounds wonderful.
I had baking a walnut cake on my mind for today. Then I remember maybe it was cheesecake. lol
Ivy,
ReplyDeleteThe thunderstorms were spread over a very wide area nearly the length of Vermont. A July farewell show
Marie,
ReplyDeleteI think it is slugs at work because there's a shiny slime on the stems. Dish liquid and water I think will help.
I love Tony Robinson's walking programs -- always so interesting! I need to watch Time Team. Pity about the video -- I hope you can figure it out. The curly lightning sounds interesting.
ReplyDeleteJeanie,
ReplyDeleteGetting photos of a lightening bolt, the easiest for me is to extract a frame from a video. They are impossible for me to take a pictures since they only last a second.
Time Team episodes are on 2 accounts, Time Team Official and Time Team Classics.
Lots of thunderstorms going on right now in different areas. I know what you mean about having burnout on different sites. Sometimes they are hard to load, they skip, or just stop altogether, ugh. Your petunia is lovely, even though something bit it. That's great that you lost 4 pounds!

I love YouTube. I can watch way too much!
ReplyDeleteSheri,
ReplyDeleteStay safe! Some thunderstorms are ferocious. The official YouTube channels don't have the glitches other videos have. I don't know why because to air full episodes, permission is needed.
As I type, more rain is on the way here.
Debra,
ReplyDeleteToo much YouTube may becoming a new recovery group because it is so easy to find more programs after watching all the videos posted for a favorite series. Portrait Artist of the Year flows into Landscape Artist of the Year, and then an easy break watching history and archaeology shows. lol
Let's not forget intermission music.
'Doing much of nothing' - I like that turn of phrase!
ReplyDeleteIf it's slugs that are eating your petunias, try a flat dish filled with beer - they are drawn to it (they die happy!).
Maryanne,
ReplyDeleteThe summer 6 pack bought last May or June is no more.
I finished the last bottle last week.
:)
Something has gotten at them.
ReplyDeleteWilliam,
ReplyDeleteAfter the heavy rain the other day, the petunia plants there are just about all eaten. Whatever it is, it likes water.
