Week 34, Day 237 of August 2023

Pink Cosmos 2023

Another Friday, another month fading into the past, more rain, the days continue to build a path towards the autumn. I looked at a flannel shirt today, hanging there in my closet. Appearing as if on the border of a power nap, the collar droops and curves, stretching above an open unbuttoned yawn.

There is a battle with the laundry. I say,  I've done enough! The basket says, Oh no you haven't! I'm considering how I can do away with using laundry baskets. Eliminating the amount of lip one gets, the mental sass from objects in our home environment is a real challenge.

Instead of soup on dreary overcast days, I think a lively green salad and/or stuffed grape leaves will be better.
My mother had a wide variety of meals she made, like stuffed green peppers. I wonder how I lived through having stuffed green peppers in my youth. I stopped making them decades ago due to indigestion.  My menu is less than a quarter of what she served. Building a recipe file is a good idea. However, the problem with recipes is that you have to shop for the ingredients.

  1. Beautiful cosmos...love that colour.
Stuffed green peppers aren't high on my list of good things to eat either.

  2. Maryanne,
We aren't alone. I've talked to many a person who also dislikes or can't digest stuffed green peppers. I switched to red bell peppers in salads.

  3. Stuffed green peppers cause me to have amazing, almost hallucinogenic dreams of quests and galloping horses, and flowing dresses, and who knows what. A bit disturbing, and I don't like green peppers anyway!

  6. Cathy,
A fireplace going would take the chill out of the air.
Here today it was surprisingly humid for the high 70sºF.

  7. We eat far less than we used to. I have meals in the freezer for days and days. Hmmm…about time to try one.

  8. I remember my mom made stuffed bell peppers too, and they sure were delicious. Thanks for the suggestion. I only have one laundry basket for my towels and dish towels, and my clothes I wash right away. You're right, eliminate the laundry baskets - they take up a lot of room. I smiled when you mentioned your Flannel shirt, as it reminds me that Fall is coming soon. ; ) What a beautiful color that flower is.

  9. Marie,
Eating less began over a year ago for me. I wonder if somehow the pandemic slowed appetites.

  10. Sheri,
    Mothers cooking is the best.

The humidity the last few days has been high. It feels like summer without a high temperature. I red a fall forecast that the New England area will be warmer than usual this autumn. As long as the foliage is good, warm is all right.
