Thinking About Words
Is this right side up? |
There are moments when thoughts string together like a party bunting across your mind.
For no particular reason, mine this morning began with feeling grateful I'm up, as in no longer in pajamas mode. Strolling along, I stop to ponder the word, Up. How many ways is it used? Confident no weird thought goes unGoogled, I found a fantastic web page answering my question, (above link).
A few years ago I posted about the word exercise I play by writing down 100 favorite words in random order. In 6 months or so, write a new 100 words' list. The point is the comparisons are fun and a unique way to take a look at your Self.
I made 2 or 3 100 words' lists.
I also lost my lists somewhere in old file folders, hard copy paper files. I don't save them on my computer because I like real paper; and, for such a personal exercise, handwriting greatly enhances the experience.
September begins this week. Next Monday is Reflection Monday September 2023. As usual, I have been brainstorming, pondering the blog feature for thoughts I have yet to post about. I decided to focus on a word.
Note, the photo is upside down.
Where has the year gone? So hard to believe that it will be September on Friday.
ReplyDeleteI like that photograph ... I think it would work either way :)
All the best Jan
Words are so valuable ~ Each one very significant ~ like 'grateful' ~ I find I am grateful for each moment and from there spirals into everything there is in the day ~
ReplyDeleteCreative photo ~ always fun to have one like that ~
Wishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,

Jan,
ReplyDeleteThis Friday being the first day of September feels unreal even more so because rainy weather erased a lot of summer days around here.
The soup recipe you posted today is going in my soup recipe file. :)
Carol,
ReplyDeleteStarting day with being grateful is beautiful.
The word grateful is on my 100 favorite words' list.
Hugs
We haven’t had much of a summer weather-wise but September is nigh. Sigh!
ReplyDeleteMarie,
ReplyDeleteOur area in the Northeast, according to the Old Farmer's Almanac, will be cooler, a lower than average temperature for autumn. It is the Southeast that will be warmer. sigh
I felt like the photo was upside down, but wasn't sure! Interesting idea to collect your favorite words. I have a list of adjectives. I thought I was a bit off the beam, but maybe not!
ReplyDeleteDebra,
ReplyDeleteAn adjective list is a really good idea! Thank you
I'll try that as well.
Sometimes when I change the view of a photo, I forget which one is the original. :)
I had one of those stringing together moments on my last walk. They're interesting, aren't they? I'm not sure I see the photo as upside down. Maybe I'll have to turn my computer upside down!
ReplyDeleteJeanie,
ReplyDeleteThe lower tree trunk section is always thicker than the branches. In a reflection, it will be always be at the top.
:)
I think it would be a good exercise to choose 100 favourite words, but then again I suspect my brain would totally draw a blank after only a few.
ReplyDeleteMaryanne,
ReplyDeleteThe first 100 list might be slow to write. Worth a try.
My first list did take time. The one I wrote the other day, was finished in minutes. I am pleased that I remember many of the same words on all my lists.
It's too hot for me to consider that!
ReplyDeleteWilliam,
ReplyDeleteIt has been on the hot side here as well. The humidity cranks up the discomfort.
Stay cool!
