Arranging Furniture Fun

Abstract Untitled

The change of seasons means moving furniture to the winter arrangement.  Table space is premium for craft, sewing and art projects. This year there will be more surface area to use after I finish making a larger craft table.

The wood card table will be used for puzzles, and odd projects like a place to allow things to dry.

During the furniture moving, there's also clearing out stuff. The tall trash can where I stored rolled up drawings, wallpaper and such is now a clothes hamper. A file cabinet is in the corner instead. More has moved here and there to organize, tidy up, declutter. I've also found small projects to add to the cold weather indoors project basket.

The abstract is one such discovery rolled in a tube with other stuff. I recall it as being on gesso primed paper. To my surprise, it is on primed canvas without a stretcher.

Who know moving furniture could be so much fun.

I found a 1982 duck applique and stuffed decoy book with the pattern; a cross stitch door pull kit; wood  pieces for projects; tons of buttons; a knitting project; drawing paper; and more.

So that's where that was!...ruled.

  1. One day I'd like pictures. You have all kinds of ingenious ways of using your space to serve your purpose.

  3. Oh Yes, rearranging furniture can give the whole house a new look. I'm glad you are finding new spaces for new things. I haven't put a puzzle together in years. What a great hobby this is. I've always loved puzzles. Your craft table sounds perfect for the creative person you are.

  6. You're a machine! (I felt proud for clearing off the desk... pitiful!) It does feel good to move things around and it's nice when you have the space to do it! Everything feels new. A drying space is very good!

  7. Sheri,
Puzzles can be very relaxing. They also help concentration as well as hand to eye coordination. Give one a try.
I do online jigsaw puzzles on jigsawexplorer.com

After each tidy up session, I walk into the room just to see the floor. What puzzles me is how in magazines and websites, shelves lined with storage baskets look so nice, but mine looks cluttered.

  8. Hena,
It is like cleaning out a toy box, lots of fun treasures reappear as if brand new. :)

  10. Jeanie,
Drying space, 2 dowels sticking out of a bookcase or shelves, with a string across makes a neat drying line indoors, for papers that don't drip.

    Have a fun week!

  11. Kudos to you for moving furniture around. I am tired of moving it, so mine will stay put now. Also a plus when you find something when moving around. Janice

  14. Marie,
At the thrift store a few years ago I bought the wood card table at a fantastic price. If you have such a shop in your area one might come through for sale sometime.
