Blogging Changes

How well we communicate with each other is always important. In this wider global cyber space, words can become scrambled in cultural differences. What can't be tossed around, at least shouldn't be, is respect for each other. As blog land groups coalesce into a tribe of like minded people, the experience can be weird to explain to non-bloggers how you can feel friendship with a person you have never met face to face. I believe people miss out on a good part of planet Earth society by not reading blogs authored by regular people living sort of regular lives.

Regular lives. Thinking back to my early computer days. Downloading terrified me. I didn't grasp photo sizes and computer memory. Happily one day I decide to download a photograph of a nebula. My system froze because the size of the photograph was essentially bigger than my computer's memory storage. I mean the photo was huge.

A few years later, I began blogging. I decided early on that I only need to learn enough to do what I want to do, type, send, copy, paste, read email, send email, stuff like that. The journey has been interesting. Now I'm dealing with voice recognition applications. I do not use Siri. I tried it a couple of times. Not diggin' it. If hear my system talk to me, then I shut it off.

However, I am now experimenting with my computer's recording feature.

The first audio blog post is back in the Draft folder. I had a surge of shyness.

What do you think of recording your blog posts?

P,S,
Day 2 of covid booster shot, not feelimg so great. Iced injection site as arm is really tender. I tend to be wimpish when feeling yucky. Craving Hagen Das coffee ice cream. :)

  1. What a beautiful speaking voice you have! Do more! I don't have that function, so I'm continuing to write.

  2. Liz,
If your computer is less than say 5 years old, then there might be a recording feature in there. My old computer had one as well.
Thank you. That's my first coffee of the day voice. I am going to read an E.A. Poe poem for Halloween.

  3. That is not something I have delved into. I do YouTube videos and post them and I have posted videos on my blog but not using computer generated apps for that. An interesting idea. I'm looking forward to hearing some of you talk!! Makes you feel more real.

  4. Latane,
Being more real is something I didn't think about. Interesting how we think of each other. Hearing my own voice is weird.

  5. I work off a tablet and a low level phone. My old laptop doesn't fire up for much more than scanning and printing. Nothing in the budget for an upgrade. But I really prefer the written word.

  6. Liz,
The written words I also prefer.
Fun though, to do an audio blog.
Also, there will be no Poe poem for Halloween. I tried a reading to day, and it was horrid.

  9. Oh dear, does this mean I need to learn something else? Don't hold your breath because my speaking voice isn't something I really want broadcast out there. Good for you for having the gumption to go through with it though. Who knows, maybe one day I'll try to experiment.

  10. Your voice is like a warm hug of honey, you sound wonderful. Just as I imagine you are in real life. I can't wait to hear you read Poe.

My voice sounds either very low in my boots or squeaky like a mouse when it is recorded there is no in-between and it makes me giggle too much try this - maybe one day.... ;o)

I couldn't agree more with your first paragraph too. You say it so succinctly. Best wishes.

  11. Maryanne,
Your voice in my mind is beautiful, full of cheer and humor, with pans and spoons clanking as an oven door shuts in the background.
Note, it takes several tries to have an audio video that is okay to post.

  12. Lisa,
A changing voice is a strange thing to me. I have a similar issue with lower smooth and a deeper whatever voice. I don't know when one is going to show up.
Thank you. I hope someday to learn how to drop the esses whistle.

  14. Carol,
There are so many changes in technology that have gone by without my knowing what they are, I figure that's the new way of technology. Some will know and need, and many more of us won't care or want.

  15. Oh May! I love that you recorded this blog post. I love hearing your voice! I'd like to give this a try, but I think I need a microphone, as I create my blogs on a PC. Hmmm... I wonder if I can figure this out. Thank you for doing this. Hearing your voice, I like you even more. I feel like I know you a little bit better. I love your eastern accent. I don't know why I didn't imagine that before. :)

  16. Becki,
The recording is done from my PC pressing down the 4 Window squares key, alt and G at the same time. The pop up boxes will appear to record. You have to have either the page on the screen or a hard copy to read from. On my HP PC the recordings are stored in Videos.

Thank you for telling me what accent I have. I really couldn't tell what I sound like. Strange because I'm usually a good accent identifier. My Boston accent I know. That shows up sometimes.
