Post Hiatus
The Middlebury River Acrylic on canvas 2022 M.Flannery |
Art. Remember the painting series posted last year for the artwork in the photograph above? Well, I will be starting another series from a different photo as yet to be taken. Once again, the series is for an impressionism landscape.
Internet. In my travels, checking this blog's name on Google, I learned a website that promoted blogs for free, (send in email and URL), has changed to a free plus paid service. It is good to have a plan to promote your blog if you are in business or want to increase traffic to your website for advertising income. That is beyond my small blog world, but other's might consider such a plan.
I believe it is a good idea to Google your name as well as your blog's name on a regular basis. You never know what might be out there.
Cereal. Instead of sugary snacks, I treated myself to a box of Special K Blueberry cereal. Breaking up the monotony of oatmeal feels great. Besides, I sometimes like to have cereal for dinner.
October. Starting this month felt to me like walking into a twilight zone. October 7 actual date. My brain date, September 30th. It is a good thing I had to grocery shop or else I would have missed the oranges of the distant mountains. The trees nearby are just beginning to turn color. When they are at peak foliage, the mountains are past peak foliage.
Over the long weekend, on Route 7, Saturday morning I saw long lines of vehicles traveling south where the foliage and mountains are poplar drives. There was also a quilt show in Middlebury that day. My mask and I stayed home.
Shots. The senior flu shot, done deal, I got it. Arm was sore going in from wrestling with an Ocean Spray juice bottle. (Even after cutting the plastic connectors to the cap, I struggled to get the bottle open.) My arm is tender two hours after the shot. When I lift my arm, I feel the injection site. No redness or swelling. An ice bag later will help keep it that way.
Please read the CDC, and other sources about covid, flu, RSV shots and decide for yourself to get injected.
Remember, being healthy decreases the burden on the health care system as well as your income.
The Middlebury River painting is a lovely, inviting creation, May. I feel myself pulled in from many points.
ReplyDeleteWe have to schedule our shots this month. Such an important part of life these days!
ReplyDeleteBecki,
ReplyDeleteBeing pulled in many way is all right when they even out the circle with must do, it can wait, and maybe want to do things.
Marie,
ReplyDeleteThe new shots are part of life is bigger now than I care for. It feels like a constant virus assault on humans.
Your painting is so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI have caught up with your previous posts-so well written, and lots of things to think about. Thank you. I'm not getting the shots this year. After I got my last covid shot and flu shot, I had a year of problems with extreme anxiety and hives. I can't take that risk-I will wear a mask again if I need to. Right now, getting covid for me would be mild compared to a year of what I have gone through. By the way, I have heard of others who experienced awful anxiety from the shots-not fear of getting covid-just plain anxiety over everything. My doctor said it is possible, so I have her blessing to forgo the shots.
Sorry this is so long and so much about me.
This is your painting? It takes my breath away, it's so gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteYour fall foliage sounds about the same level as ours, maybe a bit ahead. I got my RSV shot a few weeks ago. I have to wait two weeks till after my antibiotic to get the Covid and flu so one week after I get home from the lake I should be good to go. I haven't googled my blog in a long time -- that's a good idea.
Debra,
ReplyDeleteI believe you've made the right decision.
If I had side effects like that, then I'd forgo getting the covid shots.
As for the anxiety, my acute anxiety condition hasn't been impacted by the covid shots (4).
A factor for other folks, could be the covid pandemic itself filtering in. The shots, I think, can be a target to assign conditions that would have been there without the shots.
I say that because I feel there are way too many conditions that take far too long to diagnose in an age when science can take us to the Moon and back.It makes no sense to me.
Beautiful autumn photo ~
ReplyDeleteWishing you good health, laughter and love in your days ~

I love the beautiful colors of Fall. And maybe I should mix it up and have cold cereal for breakfast instead of always oatmeal. I'll live on the wild side...like you! heehee!
ReplyDeleteCarol,
ReplyDeleteIt was a nice day when the light was just right.
Diane,
ReplyDeleteYou can warm up the milk for box cereal. :)
Thank you, Jeanie
ReplyDeleteThe local higher elevation areas are nearing peak fast with the cooler weather here in Vermont.
I have to check if now there is an RSV shot locally.
May, to be clear... I meant I feel pulled into The Middlebury River painting from different angles. Makes me want to linger and study it more. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to your new painting series and reading about your thought processes as you create. Always interesting.
ReplyDeleteLots of interesting little discussions this time and a couple notes from me...
ReplyDelete1. Re oatmeal, try adding things like dried cranberries, raisins and coconut.
2. I don't want to admit it's October. Looking out and seeing the leaves falling is further evidence that the dreaded winter is nearing.
3. Re the struggle to open the juice bottle - if you will share your snail mail addy I will happily send you a little summthin' that will maybe help (marmic1954 AT gmail DOT com).
4. Waiting for notice to say flu shots are available here and once we get into November we should be eligible for the next Covid booster. Appears likely that RSV shots will be somewhere in the mix too.
Lorrie,
ReplyDeleteThe weather has pockets of clearing that will make a nice short look at the foliage. Yesterday, I saw one of the usual areas I visit is in the early stages. It was a surprise because farther south, the mountains have an orange tint to them.
Maryanne,
ReplyDeleteI hope the shots you need are available.
I agree with you about winter nearing. I am not looking forward to snow.
Thank you for the offer. It is rare I have trouble opening any jar or bottle. Only the Ocean Spray are a bother. I keep an opener gadget in my paint box because tubes can dry up tight to open.
I love dry cranberries. I usually add blueberries to my oatmeal, but lately I've gone plain to get it over with.
Beautiful!
