The New Haven River: The Start

Back on track with the painting series, the canvas in the photo is as far as I've gotten thus far. I have one more photo hunt to do for a good view of the right bank. The image is a composite of three photographs.

Left bank

Key is the large blue boulder on the right that is in all 3  photographs.
The sunshine, source of light will be across the top of the orange foliage.

More photographs are needed for reference. At present, I'm plotting the composition. How far I will get in each painting session isn't set in stone. This year, I'm flowing with the paint energy because my confidence in the composition is stronger this year than last year. I won't be section painting. However,  I will be spending more time painting the water..

  2. Liz,
Thank you. The thinking phase of the painting continues with fewer questions and doubts. I have the feeling the painting pace will be faster than I'm use to.

  8. I'm really looking forward to seeing you progress in the painting and all the tips you give along the way. Most of them are good for me in my fabric landscape work too so I'm grateful.

  12. William,
The incline in places is fairly regular for the water to flow. It amazes me the flow rate is so steady. In spring, it is scary how fast the water moves.
