A Simple Thing To Be Excited About

Flowers just because
The little green flower looks like a small rose. I haven't seen them before. Does anyone know their name? (see below)

The other day while reading a fashion blog, I click on a photo of a pair of joggers. I was thrilled to see they are the old style gym class gray knit with an elastic waist, baggy style called sweat pants. I ordered a pair.

I rarely see them for sale at thrift stores or rummage sales. Wear until thread bare might be at work, as folks probably wear them until they fall apart, (the joggers, not the person).

They are also called joggers now. Maybe the word sweat isn't chic enough for this era. If they wear well, then I'll buy a couple more. I think they are thee most comfortable pants in the world! It is weird to be so excited about a simple pair of knit pants.

What simple thing have you been excited about this winter?

  3. I, too, am curious about the name of that flower. There were some in our Christmas arrangement we got from our kids and it's the first time I've seen them.
Lucky you to find sweats/joggers that you like. I can't buy such things because they are always way too short for me. I have discovered that if I buy men's fleece or flannel 'sleep pants' they might be long enough. Both RC and I pretty much live in those when we're home which saves on our 'good' clothes.

  4. Maryanne,
That is the first bouquet I bought that has those miniature roses. I found online one that looks like them called, Green Diamond.

The sweat pants without the band are the ones I prefer because they are easier to hem. I find that I step on my hems the pants are so long.

  5. it is always exciting to find clothes you love to wear...the ones that are most comfortable!! i know those pants, the thickness of that fabric is a little too much for me but i do live in sweats. the fabric is just a little thinner!! and i need to find mine again...i have been wearing the 6 pair i have forever and i can't find them now!!

i took a picture of your flowers with my phone, it is telling me that is brassia, in the wild cabbage family. i'm not positive that is correct, but maybe!!

  7. Debbie,
The thinner sweat pants are what I've been wearing for a few years now. They are nice, but in the cold, the fibers freeze.
    Thank you for checking.
I found a similar rose online called Green Diamond. It is definitely arose. I added a close up picture.

  9. I agree with you that there is nothing like a pair of comfy sweatpants, which I have never called joggers. Years ago, I had several pairs and now it is hard to find them as folks are wearing different styles. These days flannel PJ bottoms seem to be in vogue along with slippers which are seen everywhere, not just in a home. I have one pair left in navy blue and maybe it will one day be a vintage clothing item?

  13. Beatrice,
H&M is the website where I found the pair I bought, at a decent price.
Folks are wearing different styles. Sad thing is a lot of the fabrics are cheaply made.

  19. The jogger pants sound so comfortable. I've been wanting to get a pair of sweatpants, and I must do that soon. I only have one comfortable pair of sweatpants. Yes, simple things make us excited during each season. I just bought a couple Sharpie pens to write in my calendar. Such simple things, yet so wonderful, right?

  20. Sheri,
    Happy Sharpies!
They can be a lot of fun doodling on a big piece of poster board.
